Hello Unbeweavians! (Yup, just made that up) It’s Krista again. I’m taking a break from the joys of washing dishes, sewing drapes and renovating my our new kitchen to bring you some more hair babble.

Class is in session. (That was a back to school reference in case you missed it.) I’ve compiled a few of my fave hair tutorials and products for your viewing pleasure.
First up, this tutorial for relaxed curls changed my life. Okay, maybe that’s a bit of an overstatement, but it definitely changed the way that I curl my hair. Really.

Katie from Running On Happiness, mentioned something I had never heard before in all my hairstyling years. Her tip for twirling and slightly dragging the last bit of hair from the curling iron is a game-changer. You have to see it to believe it. She also has lots of other great tutorials on her blog (including this recent one for blow-drying) and the most adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (since my old puppy that is.)
I Am Style-Ish also has a great glam curls tutorial worth a look. Or check out this one for curls with a flatiron.

Truth be told, I’m a curly-haired girl.
I often shock the hell out of people when I fore go the blow dryer, round brush, flat iron, hour in the bathroom and just let things go natural.

One product that I cannot live with out, whether I’m going curly or straight is Moroccan Oil. I put it on after I’ve towel dried clean hair and it smells amazing. My hair’s pretty dry to begin with, on top of that I have colour and highlights, the oil keeps it soft and fights frizz. On curly days, I use the oil as well and also the same brand’s Intense Curl Cream before I let my hair air dry.

If your hair is fine, hot rollers are a great source for volume. (For the love of God, don’t ever flatiron your hair before you attempt to curl it. Maybe just your roots if you’re a friz-monster like me)

No matter what type of hair you have, if you’re looking for a good set of hot rollers, I recommend these Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium. Twelve should be more than enough and this particular set has only the two biggest sizes. If you have already have an older set, don’t bother with the smaller ones. Just use the bigger rollers and larger sections of hair.

Don’t forget, Practice Makes Perfect. I was years out of hairdressing school by the time I got the hang of blow-drying my own hair. And don’t even get me started on the sideways braid thing, (I found the trick, by the way is keeping your hair really tight until you fastent it.) Be patient and don’t give up if you can’t get the hang of it immediately. Why not ask your hairstylist for some tips or a demo of a technique you’re having trouble with the next time you’re at the salon

Like I always say, You Get What You Pay For. Haircuts, color sessions, styling equipment, products… Consider them an investment in yourself. When you look good, you feel good! Don’t go out and spend an arm and a leg on all new stuff, but consider your options a little mor carefully the next time you’re tempted to grab a $20 curling iron from the drugstore. It’ll last about as long as it took you to cash out. My Chi iron isn’t the priciest model but it wasn’t cheap either, and it’s lasted about 3 or 4 years already.

I may or may not have thought it was a sex toy.

*These pictures are on my Twitter and Facebook, and I’ve been asked questions about the length and how I keep it so healthy/shiny. Â Really quick-I deep condition like it’s my job-I use this Rene Furterer deep conditioner 2x a week, and I don’t wash my hair everyday. Â I’m a firm believer that it’s one of the worst things you can do, obviously there are exceptions if your hair is super oily, etc. Â For example-I flat ironed on Saturday when I took these photos-Sunday, my hair had more texture which I love and was kind of messy and beachy, if you will…and today, it’s up in a crazy ponytail situation with a headband but the lil bit of dirtyness makes it look pretty cool. Â I swear by dry shampoos-I’ve blogged about the Rene Furterer one before that I hoard because it’s always sold out. Â Since I use so much heat on my hair-I ALWAYS use a heat protectant spray. ALWAYS. I actually adore this TRESemme one you can get at Target for like 5 bucks.

Hey loves!

I just dropped the (dot)blogspot, so it may take a few days to update in your reader, or it may be tricky for you to follow me if you’re new, which sucks. But my domain name FINALLY became available, I’ve been checking like a nutjob because I knew it was about to expire, so I jumped on it! Evil laugh.

I’m starting a little series…Liz is Loving…where I post ten things I’m….loving. This edition’s focus is fashion/hair/make-up. (Shocking, I know! I’m sure a lot of them will be.)

1. My Marc Jacobs jellies! I know you’ve seen these before, they aren’t new on the scene, but I love them, they make me happy…and they hold sentimental value as they were a gift from a very dear friend. And they make me feel like I’m 8 again…

2. Twelve by Twelve by Forever 21, especially the “Sunday Best Collection”. I’m new to Twelve by Twelve, but I love how the pieces are a bit more fashion forward and higher quality, yet all will remain under $100.

3. Silence and Noise Tulip Dress available at Urban Outfitters.com $48.00…buying it NOW. 4. The Etsy shop HardCouture. I was just browsing Etsy for unique headbands to wear with my new bangs, and I found HardCouture. Not only do I adore her headbands, BUT she’s an Orange County girl like me, and I like to support local small businesses.

5. So some of you know that I was a make-up artist for M.A.C for years, and I’ve received a few questions about the teal shadow in my last post. I say go for it. I was talking to the lovely Kristin at Bondon Rose, and I suggested she try a M.A.C shadow called Clarity.-Swatch below. Keep in mind that you will need to layer to achieve your desired intensity-and as this is a swatch of the color on white, will look darker on your skin. I also recommend Newly Minted, Shimmerose and Electric Eel…all here.6. Another M.A.C product (and no they aren’t still paying my bills!) Skinsheen Leg Spray is a gel based bronzer that you can literally apply EVERYWHERE, and it won’t rub off on your clothes or get streaky/weird should you decide to dance on the bar at Coyote Ugly in Vegas. Just sayin.

We used to slather the models in it for photo shoots, and it’s a safe alternative to tanning and scary self-tanners. It also doesn’t have glitter in it, which I like, but keeps you looking glowy.

7. BedHead Headrush

This is an ahhmazing shine enhancing spray that my stylist turned me on to. What I love about it-you can spray it all over your head and not worry about it getting greasy. And it smells delish.

8. Ok, this one I go CRAZY for, and should be number one. Moroccan Oil has changed my hair, and thus, my life, and I’m not exaggerating. It is like the nectar of the gods or something. Again, turned on by my amazing stylist, Moroccan Oil smoothes and protects before any heat styling. It makes your hair SO SOFT and shiny you will want to pet it all day. It retails for about $34 and is worth every penny! Seriously you guys…UNBEWEAVABLE!

9. I only wear True Religions. I’m a firm believer in finding the brand of jeans that work with your bod, and remaining loyal because jeans shopping can be so horrific, right. I LOVE these…True Religion Stella Black in Medium Lovestruck. Hot with some heels, or even my M.J flats! 10. And last but not least…because they’re badass and although I love summer…Fall fashion is just so much more fun…Chloe Over the Knee boots available here. At least I have a couple months of flip flops and flats to save my pennies! That heel makes me want to do bad things…
