I get lots of emails. Don’t we all. Between work, blog, friends, facebook, Twitter, shopping sites, spam…I usually wake up to 275+ emails on my crackberry. No wonder I have the anxiety. Weekends are much slower, but I still immediately reach for my phone to check when I wake up. I have to say that besides emails from clients desperately needing my services ha, the emails I get from ya’ll are my FAVORITE. Seriously. CASE IN POINT. This Saturday morning…an email from my freaking NYC LOVER The Beauty File…and I have to share with you-her words…

Dress You Up In My Love…

Happy Monday! In my head, that sounded totally sarcastic so just in case it didn’t translate-TOTALLY SARCASTIC. But anyway! The project I’m working on requires me to go into an office (I’m sure I’m getting blank stares from most of you…as you read this from your offices), and last week I was bored out of my mind with my outfits! Therefore, no lookbooks…yet. I love dresses…they’re so easy to throw on, and Hanako, Kelly and Maegan inspire me with the dresses they wear to work. I have to admit though, that dresses are one retail sector that kind of intimidate me, especially when it comes to the workplace. I can wear whatever the heck I want, one of the perks of working in a creative industry, however…if you have boobs or curves like me-lots of dresses can go from cute to skank in 2.5 secs…not professional at all. Below are dresses I would wear to work that won’t break the bank (I despise spending a fortune on work clothes, let’s save that for the Loubies kthxbai.)

I’m willing to forgive what you and your mean muggin friend Tuesday did to me last week (You both had bad hair, btw). I almost had to get the badgers and take you down (throw beer in your face.) But, let’s start fresh, ok? Play nice, Monday!

Thank you for being the only items of clothing in my closet that did not make me want to burst in tears and rock back and forth in the fetal postion this weekend. It’s not that my other clothes are mean. They just don’t understand pms and aren’t as…flexible as you are.

Dear Hair,

I want my bangs back and this is the picture I will be taking to our stylist. Bangs, since it will be cooling off you have no reason to get all hot and sweaty and weird. Act right ok? I know OOFA isn’t here to “roll my bangs?” but we are just going to have to be big girls and work as a team.

Answers-Extensions!

Hey Dolls!

I’m excited for a new week! I’m healthy and hopefully kicking booty at my interview-I was lucky to get a chance to go in today at 12! Cross your fingers! Third times the charm, right?

What better way for me to toss this week off to an Unbeweavable start…my UNBEWEAVABLE hair post! (Part 1) More than half of the questions you asked were about my hair, so I’m going to break them up into a few posts because you came here to read a blog, not a novel.

Part 1-EXTENSIONS

As the story has been told-the day the below picture was taken inspired the name of my blog.

BFF Istvan declared two things-

“When in doubt, track it out!” and “You’re Unbeweavable!” Both of which had me laughing and then lightbulb moment-BLOG name born!

Two of my favorites asked me specifically about extensions…Tiffany at I Am Style-ish, and E at District of Chic. (Sidenote-you must go check out their blogs, I love them somethin fierce!)

Are extensions hard to maintain and how long do they last? and What can I NOT do with them?

Extensions are not hard to maintain, although they ARE a commitment just like anything else! Before touching your pretty little head, your stylist should go over the maintenance extensions will require. (I know this won’t interest everyone, and pardon my mug being all over this post, but I figured you should see my hair since I’m talking about it.)

Brusha brusha brusha-I had to learn to brush differently, but it doesn’t take any longer and has become second nature. But I’d REALLY have to brush like a psycho to rip them out, they aren’t going anywhere. Same goes for washing, you learn to do it a bit differently, YES you can wash your hair til you’re blue in face if you want to!

How long do they last?

I first got mine in October…had them “moved up” in February, and just had them removed and completely re-done with new hair last month. So-9 months! Not bad, right-when you consider I had to do absolutely nothing to my hair during that time-no cuts, color, nothing…FYI-When I had them completely removed-my real hair was healthier and longer than it has EVER BEEN. So I want to calm any fears that all your real hair will be ripped out-quite the opposite if you have them done correctly.

What Can’t I do?

There isn’t one thing I can’t do because I have a weave! I blowdry, I flat iron, go swimming. I even dyed them dark on my own the day I broke up with my ex haha. Below after the transformation to the dark side, where I am now…funny side-note-want to know what I’m gazing at so lustfully over to the side? A hot Laguna surfer? NO. My sister holding a water bottle full of wine. Klassy. I guess I was thirsty? Anywhooo…

A Few Things...

Price doesn’t always equal quality when it comes to extensions. Where I go in Newport Beach, CA, my stylist does celebrities, I am in love with my results and yet her prices are far more reasonable than other’s I’d had consultations with. The ONLY reason I am dropping the celeb thing is to prove that proper extensions can be affordable. If you have questions about price/methods-don’t hesitate to email me. Let me just say-it should be way under $1000 for a full head, including the highest quality hair. WAY. I really can’t stress that enough!

-Have consultations! 20 if you have to! Ask to see before and after pictures, see if there are clients you can talk to for a referral. There are some jacked up salons and stylists out there-and I don’t want any of my girls looking like Britney at the MTV awards, mmkay? So take your time, don’t go to the first yahoo you see on Craigslist cuz she’s cheap and never feel pressured! Here is my own before and after…see how she matched my already highlighted hair perfectly? Amazing.

To wrap this up, I want to say that personally I would go without new shoes or bags for months to afford my extensions if it came to that. Or I’d live in a cardboard box with great hair, rent isn’t important! OH where’s that douche to call me materialistic and self involved when I need him? Haha…but seriously, I was lucky to have them done RIGHT the first time, and I’m truly in love with the results.

Only gets a little tricky when you’re making out in a car and the.hottest.guy.ever’s hands are all up in your weave…but that’s another story. Of course there are other options that aren’t so permanent and costly that can be fabulous too! So take your time, consider your options and don’t hesitate to ask me any questions! Sorry if this post didn’t appeal to everyone, but lot’s of readers have asked for it since I started le blog!

Monday Stranger Danger

Hi Dolls!! How are you? How were your weekends?

Mine was good…the bf and I always seem to find something to do. HA. To say the least. We’re still in the meeting each others friends and family stage, so we knocked a lot of that kind of stuff out this weekend. Sunday, we kept it mellow…and it was my bright idea to rent The Strangers. So I usually don’t get scared by movies, I think they’re silly…but that was effing creepy! Is it totally necessary for them to say how it’s “based on true events”?? As the bf reminded me, that could mean ANYTHING was true and is very, very vague but whatever, it makes it even more weird.

“Why are you doing this to us?”-Liv (love her, P.S.)
“Because you were home.” -Psycho blonde chick in the mask. Like, duh.

Well, Okayyyy….perfect. That’s comforting.

Does the time change completely mess you guys up too? It’s so annoying, I feel like I’m totally jet lagged, except I barely traveled out of the bed yesterday. And it was still dark when he left for work this morning and I was seriously freaked out. I THINK him knocking on the sliding glass door right before he left might have had something to do with it…he’s an angel like that.

Anyway, I can’t think about it anymore, so going to my happy place… Fashion.

Have you guys seen this Alice + Olivia piece? I really, really want it, I think there’s so much I could do with it. Cute, right?
