I swear, I always have this inner battle going on in my little pea brain when I’m out and about…like, “OHHHH I should blog about this!” and then, “Ughh I don’t want to be taking pictures for my blog, that’s so lame!” AND THEN, “I don’t want these people to even KNOW I have a blog, so pass.” Haha…clearly this lil piece o’the interwebs is still suffering from an identity crisis, and in the same thought as “Ohh I should blog about this” I also think, “I should just delete it, wait wtf I would NEVER delete it!” AND HERE WE ARE.

Day by day, dolls. That’s how I’m doing it in real life, and blog life. Day by mother effing amazing, stressful, tiring, exciting…day.

Lately-

I’ve been eating at some of the most YUMMY restaurants in LA/OC. I’m a creature of habit and usually find myself at the same places, so I’ve been making it a point to expand my horizons-and having a man in my life who always has a new place to take me certainly helps. I won’t bore you with all the places I’ve been stuffing my face at, but I do want to mention Umami Burger…Burgers are apparently the new cupcake, at least in Cali, where there is a new fancy shmancy gourmet burger place opening up every week. Umami was totally hyped up, so OF COURSE I dragged Dan with me to Hollywood to see if it was all it was cracked up to be. It was good. Super good, even. And hey, I’ve never met a sweet potato fry I didn’t like.

But seriously? Give this girl an In N Out Burger over all these hyped up joints ANYDAY. ANIMAL STYLE. Yep.

Lately-

I’ve been posting on We Love Dates! About fun stuff like getting matched with my STEPBROTHER on a dating site. Because my life is fun like that, and I’m really looking forward to the awkwardness over the Thanksgiving dinner table this year. I like to keep things interesting. Uh.no.com. Lately-

I can’t wait for September. Blogging has brought THE MOST AMAZING PEOPLE into my life and I get to see so many of them next month, some for the first time, some again. So while I’m hot and cold about how much to share here, I’m never wishy washy about how blessed I feel to be a part of this community-even if I’m not at the center of it anymore. Um, THAT? Was not supposed to sound as conceited as I’m sure it did. But whatever…my blog.

This week has flown by…I started out the week kind of down in the dumps, but by Tuesday night I had had enough of that and made the decision to be grateful, thankful and happy. Because sometimes you do have to think about it…and then slowly, you stop having to think about it and having to try and suddenly it’s almost Friday, and you’re at your best friends house, all caught up on your deadlines, watching Rob and Big while he raps Gangsta’s Paradise, blogging and reading an email from a wonderful blog friend about a job that has your name all over it and you realize (again) that things always work out, and you’re going to be just fine.

Better than fine, actually.

On this weekend’s agenda-laying out and reading…Southern Cali finally got the memo that hi, it is actually summer, so maybe the sun should shine. OH so I’m reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo like everyone else, and having a really hard time getting into it-but it’s worth it, right?

Also on the agenda- dragging said bff to Umami Burger and Wasteland on Melrose.  Good times.

And last, but not least-I’m on We Love Dates talking about butterflies and new beginnings. I originally posted this a year ago, and the butterflies are back.

Currently-Feeling at peace. The cupcakes landed (literally), and I’m moving on. Or I should say, keeping on.  I’m very optimistic about the future, about tomorrow, about TODAY, that I can’t help smiling. Thank you for all your support. I truly adore you.

Currently-Going blonde! Friday it began! No, not another post declaring my love for Taylor Jacobson, I’m not going platinum or cutting annoying, angsty bangs. I tend to freak out on Twitter while I’m getting my hair done. But whatever, I’ve been this light before, I’m not scurrred. It’s summer! This is my inspiration…UPDATE-we’ve reached the “honey blonde” stage and I have another appt in 2 weeks to lighten it even more.  You can’t go from dark brown to blonde in one sitting, without sacrificing length-something I am not willing to do right now.  

Currently-Nerding out and having major brain-gasms! So yeah, the same girl who just went on and on about her hair is also obsessed with MIT’s open courseware. Of course, I’m especially loving the lectures on Media Studies, but I got up early Friday to listen to The Society of Mind…and my mind was be BLOWN. Working out my brain as much as I’ve been working out my ass feels amazing. Working on myself inside and out…if that’s selfish, sue me…because I kinda love it. About damn time.

Speaking of, currently…down a dress size…OR TWO. (Feel awkward posting that. But HELL YEAH.) Someone actually didn’t recognize me the other day…I was all, “HI!!!!” and she was all staring at me like, who the hell are you, stranger danger and my inner monologue was like, wow ok…that was weird…hmm. Later on, I heard through my mom that she literally didn’t recognize me and said, “Wait, was that Liz?” That is a good feeling, ya’ll…and thus she is forgiven for being a total hooker

Happy Sunday/Monday! I don’t like earthquakes, but other than that I had a fabulous weekend and I hope you did too! Note-You know you’re a born and raised Cali girl when the first thing you do during a fairly large earthquake is calmly move your water away from your MAC and then go on Twitter. While your home is still shaking (because it was the longest earthquake ever.) Seriously, I hope everyone is ok though.

On to other things rocking my world (I’m so lame)-I was introduced to Peace Love World, based out of Miami, after Peace Love World participated in Rock Media Fashion Week, sponsored by Volvo & Crest White Strips, as well as Elle Magazine. Peace Love World is a ready to wear line with a mission to spread peace, love and happiness everywhere possible and to do so in an environmentally-conscious way. The effortless designs were featured on So You Think You Can Dance, the Ellen Show and Dancing With The Stars. That’s all completely badass, but all I care about was if the line was cute or not. Lately, I keep having these mini identity crises, where I wake up in the morning and am not quite sure what hat to put on, and for the sake of  finally getting this post out of my head, can we, as a family,  just pretend that I- 1. actually wear hats and do not hate them and 2. do anything in the morning before mainlining at least 2 cups of coffee?  Also?  I am trying out something new and exciting and totally stressful…making coffee at home. With a French press.  And sometimes it’s just too much for me, so I usually end up grabbing my “hat” and going to Starbucks anyway.  In the meantime, my French press looks le chic on my counter.

So, there’s that. But for the record, just so there isn’t any confusion and a hat company wants to like…sponsor me or something?  I don’t “do” hats.  I look like an idiot.  I’ve never met a hat that looked good on me, besides maybe a beanie in the snow, but that’s more functional and I still feel like I have a condom on my head.  So no hats.

I woke up today totally intending on getting a Liz is Loving up by 12, because I actually do have products I want to share with you guys and I was thinking of how I could put them all into a nice lil collage so I wouldn’t even have to say anything, and it would be more of an article, all precise and tied with a bow maybe, than the word vomit I’m actually providing today. I wouldn’t have to get personal, or reveal what I’m really feeling or thinking about anything other than beauty products. And I could do my “job” over here, and then send you on your way to guzzle green beer if that’s your thing.  But instead, I’m just going to compare myself to a coffee maker. You’re welcome.

Have you guys ever used a French press?  I should be able to do this, I am a mother effing badass.  It’s a total balancing act-if you put in too much water, it will end up all over you and your counter, if you don’t put in enough, the end result will be mud.  Sometimes when I’m pushing down on the “thing” (because I don’t know wtf it’s called), I get scared that I’m pushing too hard and it’s going to spill and why can’t I do this and why.is.everything.so.hard, and why am I crying? I know so many of you are domestic goddesses and are probably thinking, um using a French press is easy, Liz-but just stay with me.

I feel like I keep pushing myself, pushing through, pushing forward, wearing the hats I am supposed to, all the while not completely letting go, because I’m terrified I’ll lose control and make a mess I can’t clean up,  and it will become all too apparent that I actually don’t know how to process certain things and some days I just don’t have my shit together and then maybe the tears won’t stop, and the mascara I was planning on telling you guys about will run and it might get all over his shirt or my friends will get sick of hearing about it-whatever, IT may be. Or maybe, even worse, I’ll keep pushing and pushing and still feel absolutely nothing, like I’m stuck in the mud, which is even more terrifying than feeling everything all at once.
