I was about to hit publish on this long, slightly emo post about healing, and the sense of urgency I have to just be ok. I will post it, but ya know…it’s Thanksgiving.

I’ve decided-come to an executive decision, if you will. I am ok, and wherever you are in your life, you’re ok too. Not to sound too Oprah, but we only have these moments, and I’m choosing to surround myself with happiness, and love, and big hugs. 

I’m looking forward to the rest of the week with my family, and my friends, and a ton of food and alcohol (let’s keep it real).  I’m looking forward to quiet nights spent working furiously on my new site-a fire has been lit underneath me basically overnight (almost DONE FOR REALS), I’m looking forward to boots and scarves and my wearing my new Thanksgiving dress.  I’m looking forward to hugging this gorgeous girl tomorrow…who happens to be one of my best friends in that thing we call “real life”, WHO happens to live in the same city as where I’m spending Thanksgiving with my family.  It’s been established we will probably both cry when we see each other…the last few months have been A DOOZY and kept us apart, and there is seriously no relief like that of a good friend who just gets you and knows when to turn the Jay-Z up full blast.  Also, we’re shopping.

I’m thankful for the little things that bless me everyday, I’m thankful for a friend who believes in me so much she gave me a gift that I will use to make her proud (HOLY vague, but yeah…Kelly, I love you), I’m thankful for forgiveness, and I’m thankful for green tea, for a jobby job I love,  for new surprise pink Hurley beanies perfect for snowboarding season left on my doorstep by a cute boy, awesome new glasses sent to me just because (post on this coming up), but soooo thankful that my days as the pirate fashion blogger are over–contacts=scratched cornea’s=patches=not cute.

I’m thankful for my little dog who still brings me a toy every time I walk in my door, I’m thankful that I lived to tell my story, I’m thankful that I still treasure my self worth, and even in my darkest moments…I keep going.
I’m thankful for you, and your kindness and love and willingness to share your stories with me.
I’m thankful that each day is an opportunity to turn it all around.

Hi lovers.
I hope ya’ll had a good weekend (And Monday!) I went shopping with my sister, got my Forever21 bag WOOT, among some other odds and ends, and I also got to see my lovah Ali…took her out for her bday dinner and watched the Lakers go down in flames. Good girly time is priceless. I have to say that my favorite time with any of my friends is in the bathroom getting ready!  Is that weird?  Do you guys do that too?

Remember when I used to be a fashion blogger?! Me too. It’s just been a hot minute since I’ve stumbled upon anything badass enough to share, and that hasn’t already been shared 25 times. Candy & Caviar is badass x a billion–gotta thank my friend Daniel (no offense meant at all, but gay guy friends ftmfw) for the heads up…I want it all! I.die. “Little girls who dream big, make it big” is the philosophy of designer Candy Lin, and I couldn’t agree more. Now look! PRETTY! Zippers! The line is also super affordable, and I plan on rocking quite a few pieces in the near future. (After Steven kicks my ass a little more.)

So last night, I was talking to a swoon worthy fellow, and I was all, “yeah, what time can you leave in the morning for Coachella?” TOTALLY THOUGHT TODAY WAS FRIDAY.  To the point of being genuinely surprised, and so so SAD when he was like, “Liz, tomorrow is Thursday.” UGH, I hate that feeling.  I also don’t feel good.  So sore from Steven the Trainer. (More on him next week.  And yes, he’s hot, I know.)  So I’m whiny.  I only have 2 more days left of this cleanse, so I’m sticking to it. I miss sangria.

(Before I get into it-I got my “blojo” (blog mojo haha) back, according to a friend. Thank you for all the sweet emails, comments, twitter-love? twits? huh? For the record, I missed you too!)
I have a lot of expectations.  Of myself.  Of others.  Of things.  I know some of you may think that if you have no expectations, you will never get let down, and while I get that, I don’t think, for me, it’s a very realistic way to live.  I like expectations.  I like standards.  I expect that if I spend 45 minutes curling my hair…my hair had better be curly.

But see, sometimes life happens and you have to run outside your condo and help your lovely friend find parking, because parking is a total cluster of a nightmare at your house, and you want to help her, and it’s raining.  And your hair gets wet, and it’s not curly pretty princess hair anymore.  Sad.

For example.

I expect the brakes in my car to ya know, stop my car. I expect a pair of Paige’s and some 5 inchers to make me feel like a sexy badass, even when I’m convinced I have.nothing.to.wear. and my life is, actually, over.  I expect a venti skinny vanilla latte with a triple shot to perk me up in the mornings, I expect the trackball on my bberry to roll around like it’s supposed to, and while we’re on the subject, I just have to say that I expect way too much from technology in general, but I digress. I expect my birth control to…control and I expect the guy I am using said birth control with to be my best friend too.

Easy, no? What about when you hydroplane and your brakes don’t work?  What if your birth control fails? (OMG NO I’M NOT PREGNANT) What if you’re still a zombie after even 2 venti’s? Is there anything we can count on? What if it turns out he’s not my best friend and just…some guy?

There are very few things that are for sure.  I might hydroplane and my brakes might not work.  I might have on the best jeans ever that make my ass look PHENOMENAL and LOUBIES and still wish I was home in yoga pants and a wife beater.  Technology will fail us some days-might even drive us to tears when we’re totally pmsing.  And the guy I wake up next to in the morning might not be my best friend…yet.

One of my nearest and dearest said this tonight (and made me that cute picture) when I told her what I was writing about-“Expectations are sorta like mini little hopes and prayers.” So with that, I hope and pray that our cars keep us safe, and our phones, computers and birth controls do their respective jobs (or not, if that’s what you want!).  I hope and pray that the next guy I fall asleep with is my best friend, and he’ll definitely think a wife beater and yoga pants is just as sexy as jeans and stilettos…most of the time.

Oh, hi. It’s my birthday. So remember when I was all ohhh I miss you and I’m totes attacking your blogs with a vengeance and making WordPress my bitch and then I didn’t? Well, you can’t be mad at me because it’s my birthday and I make the rules.  All that stress from last week is now revealing itself in the form of a flu/cold and attacking my shitshow of an immune system.  I’ve been rilly busy anxiously watching the Olympics (I freak when they fall!), and guzzling theraflu. OH, and I was just brought the Canadian version of theraflu, because it’s stronger. So thats fitting, no? Get it?

Ok.

It’s Feb 17th-and…I was born 19 years ago. Do you believe that? REALLY? Although! I was at the DMV last week for 6 hours of my life I’d love to get back and they asked if I was there to take my drivers license test for the first time and I decided to take this as a sign that all the money I spend on “age prevention” is totally working and my Sephora purchases are completely justified. RATHER than I look like complete hell/jailbait without makeup and hair and the whole nine.

Anyways.

So, I’m sick today. Whatever. It’s Wednesday and not much is going on, just MY BIRTHDAY.  And perhaps pancakes with Kelly at 1 am, cuz that’s how we roll. Friday begins THREE CONSECUTIVE WEEKENDS of what I like to call “Jesus be a fence or cheers to making some bad decisions.”

This weekend-birthday and bloggy fun, Cali style. Next weekend-birthday and bloggy fun, VEGAS STYLE. My two worlds colliding. With Ali! And Kathleen! Blog friends turned “real lifers” my life would be empty without are rallying 2 weekends in a row. Glorious. Here’s to topless vampire revues and dancing on the bar at Coyote Ugly like it’s my job.

And then…a round trip plane ticket to San Fran showed up in my inbox. From a boy who is sneaking his way into my heart. HOW SWOON WORTHY IS THAT?  So I’ll be in SF the first weekend in March. I’ll be fairly busy making out with his hotness, but if you want to get coffee or a shot, let me know.

SO YEAH. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! And my twin sister of course! I don’t have any revelations or deep thoughts on this birthday-I just want to have FUN. A little magical fun. Good goal, right?

Breaking news-new computer arrived as I’m typing this post…so, it’s OFFICIAL this time. I’m back, dolls. God, I’m so addicted to the internet it’s absurd. Have a lovely Liz’s birthday day!

Happy Monday! In my head, that sounded totally sarcastic so just in case it didn’t translate-TOTALLY SARCASTIC. But anyway! The project I’m working on requires me to go into an office (I’m sure I’m getting blank stares from most of you…as you read this from your offices), and last week I was bored out of my mind with my outfits! Therefore, no lookbooks…yet. I love dresses…they’re so easy to throw on, and Hanako, Kelly and Maegan inspire me with the dresses they wear to work. I have to admit though, that dresses are one retail sector that kind of intimidate me, especially when it comes to the workplace. I can wear whatever the heck I want, one of the perks of working in a creative industry, however…if you have boobs or curves like me-lots of dresses can go from cute to skank in 2.5 secs…not professional at all. Below are dresses I would wear to work that won’t break the bank (I despise spending a fortune on work clothes, let’s save that for the Loubies kthxbai.)

Awwww you guys! I miss you! It’s so freaking bizarre how much I miss blogging, and it’s only been a few days! Just a busy week and life trumped le blog. Boo being busy, you’re a mean muggin whore with bad hair and ugly shoes! I wish I could share more about what I’m doing but my blog is not exactly anonymous and I can’t be too specific…Things should settle down next week so I’ll be back to my usual daily stalkage.

This week has been tough. The industry I’m in, by definition, while fun and fabulous, is TOUGH. I am battling old demons, but I’m going to be a badass and rock it out…and reward myself with some LOUBIES soon! I’m beating myself up because I haven’t worked out all week, but then again, I’ve barely eaten. (I don’t condone this AT ALL, I’m just saying.) I am a perfectionist and pleaser, working on a project that will never be perfect and nobody will ever be pleased=anxiety city.

Nothing will ever be good enough for them, so it’s just going to have to be good enough for me, with my new shoes and my (soon) new blonde hair. Appt has been made, I’m dragging Hanako along to perhaps film a Vlog or as she said, a “documentary”-”When Liz goes batshit crazy and dyes her hair platinum”…it could be the beginning of a series…”When Liz goes batshit crazy and …” I’ve got material for days, srsly.

But I digress.

I’m sorry to come back and write a post that is more for me than anyone else. I NEED to remind myself tonight, as the week is coming to an end, that next week will be better. That yes, this mess I was hired to clean up is worse than I ever could have imagined, the pressure is palpable but every day, I DO make it better. I was hired for a reason. And I’m getting a damn good name to put on my resume!

I think that just about sums it up. Thanks for putting up with my bitchboard haha. Since blogger and I don’t get along, I don’t schedule posts which means I’m not here tomorrow because I’ll be in heavy duty wedding make-up prep mode, so I have a fabulous guest blogger spreading some sunshine.
