My girl D at Dream Sequins is in Thailand celebrating her wedding anniversary (yay!) so I am guest posting on her FABULOUS blog of sparkly fabulousity. She asked me to do a Wishlist, which hello, I love doing, so I focused on designers currently showing in LA for Fashion Week LA. Sooooo check it out?! The Scent of Scandal In the Air…

Luuuvverrs! I miss you so. Thanks for sticking with me…I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!! Due to my internet drama, I’m extending my FABULOUS giveaway til Thursday! I do need to get this out of my system though…

Boots. Boots!

Obsessed. Yes, we are ALL DYING FOR FALL, fall fashion is the best, and sweating doesn’t really work for me…there is NOTHING I feel more confident in than a tight but not too tight 3/4 sleeved cashmere sweater, perfect jeans (my go-to’s are True Religion and Joe’s) tucked into boots with at least a 4.5 inch heel, add accessories up the ying yang and I am feelin gooood. When you have um…curves, summer attire can easily translate into looking slutty without meaning to. At least for me, because I am very self conscious of the “boobs” those 14 year old pervs are google searching.

Want a Liz story that borders on too much information? OK!

I once ever so innocently found myself involved in ~~a lot~~ a bit of an inter-office romance with a flippin HOT coworker. It was fall/winter, so the variations on the above outfit were endless and I just generally felt like a confident, badass B walking around and tossing my hair (I promise between all that I actually worked.). His office and my office were fairly close, his office having open windows to the hallway…so you better believe I took the route that would have me strutting by his office windows whenever possible, aka all day long. I was on a mission! SHAMELESS I tell you. Unbridled badass boot confidence can do that to a girl…

For a while we were like this, totes mcgoats smitten and I think, high off the “danger” of it all….meaning, it’s so fun to separately stroll into a big meeting after leaving the same house (WHAT?)…and because he was a funny…in a co-worker voice he’d say, “so how was your night, Liz?” from across the conference table…Uh…I just guzzled coffee and IM’ed him to shut it trying not to giggle. Could they smell the scent of scandal in the air, I wondered??

Note to self-AMEN for a reminder that being single is fun, confidence does come from within but badass boots can help, and dating a co-worker can lead to mayjah awkwardness! Life Lesson #48997 learned the fun way! Bwahahahaha…(He still calls, p.s. hmm a lot lately….to be cont.) Also, I no longer work there, and that is in NO WAY due to this litte rendezvous. There were NO casualties, I promise, I value my career so therefore all funny business was saved for after hours. K thx stop looking at me like that…

Anywho, uh, how about you turn your judgemental eyes on some badass boots!

Dream Sequins on REAL New Yorkers!

Hey friends…

I love you too. I feel like I say this a lot, and yet I feel like I don’t say it enough. I know my blog is a bit different-ya never know what you’re gonna get-I mean, a BIG hair how-to turned into a cry for help on redemption, and you guys ALWAYS have my back. To quote Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail-

“The odd thing about this form of communication is that you’re more likely to talk about nothing than something. But I just want to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings.”

I’m in the process of responding to every amazing comment and email because you put yourselves out there for me, and it’s not going unnoticed. I’m the meantime, some of my very favorite bloggers and friends have come to the rescue in their fabulous Louboutins and such!

When I asked my girl D at Dream Sequins to help me out while my head clears, she did-in lightning speed and fabulousity. She rocks and so does her blog. What she came up with is so BADASS…and perfect for me…as I move on from my past, and look towards my future. Thanks D! I can’t wait to dance on banquettes with you…(oh yeah, keep reading…)

D on REAL NEW YORKERS!!! (Yay! I learned so much. It’s not all like SATC? And I guess I need a metro card!) Hey, everyone! First of all, I want to thank Liz for giving me the opportunity to do a guest post on It’s Unbeweavable! I’m a huge fan of her blog, and am excited about her future move to New York, my home sweet home for over ten years now… Some of you may already call New York home, many of you have visited, and most of you have seen pop culture depictions of New York City. For my guest post, I thought I would highlight ten misconceptions about the city and its fabulous residents. Life in New York for me is definitely NOT like a Woody Allen movie, nor an episode of Sex and the City or Real Housewives of New York! And thank goodness, too…

(1) Attending Fashion Week is kind of a cattle call. What was once a trade only event, has turned into a media, celebrity-infested circus. And those of you who have attended shows in the past know that part of the awful part of being standing room only at a fashion show means waiting around for an hour or more to be admitted for a show that’s maybe 15 minutes tops. The best part of Fashion Week, in my humble opinion, are the afterparties; at least you can drink at afterparties!

(2) New York City is a whole lot more than Manhattan. The city is a collection of five unique boroughs, including The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Miranda may bemoan her fate as a Brooklyn resident in Sex and the City movie, but real New Yorkers live everywhere, and I love hanging with my friends in all five boroughs! Brooklyn, by the way, has some super tony neighborhoods that my Mr. and I could never afford…

(3) Real New Yorkers take public transportation. Even though I am seriously addicted to taking cabs after a late night out, I rely on subways and buses to take me around town, especially during peak traffic times. Public transportation is the great equalizer in the city. Heck, even the Mayor takes the subway now and then!

(4) It may be expensive to live here, but there are plenty of great free and inexpensive ways to keep yourself occupied here, especially for you foodies! I do enjoy a Michelin starred fancy meal now and then, but cheap, good eats are what really excite me about living here. Where else can you find great Thai, French, Pakistani, Chinese and Italian on one city block? There’s also nothing like a hot slice of New York pizza– sorry, Chicago! (I picked this image of G.P-because I have great memories there…lol…sorry if this is not what you meant D! )

(5) Real New Yorkers complain… a lot but it’s just their way of telling you they care. I first noticed this when I moved here years ago– my friends in New York would complain about every little thing under the sun, from the weather, the rising cost of housing, the temperature of food to their love lives. Now at dinner parties, I might complain about a lot of things related to New York, but really, it’s my coded way of saying I wouldn’t live anywhere else…(6) Despite working hard and playing hard in New York, we find a lot of time for trashy TV, even shows that revolve around fictional depictions of New York, such as Gossip Girl, NYC Prep and Real Housewives of New York. Missed that last episode of American Idol or Dancing with the Stars? You can expect a New Yorker to keep you up to date on the latest and greatest. We watched it on DVR, just like you.

(7) For a city obsessed with great restaurants and convenient delivery services, a lot of New Yorkers spend time in their tiny kitchens cooking up a storm. This place is foodie paradise, and even though I don’t personally enjoy cooking, the Mr. loves expressing himself through food. And I’m happy to experience the fruits of his labor! Yum.

(8) New Yorkers may work hard, but of course, we play hard too. And often, the best parties take place during the work week, and not on weekends. I don’t party as hard as I did when I was younger, but I love discovering a new bar or club during the week. It’s kind of a fun surprise to find yourself dancing on a banquette on a random Monday night. Sometimes you find yourself in situations where you’re out on a “school night,” and wondering who these people are and what they are doing out so late on a school night. New York is full of people with interesting schedules. (9) New Yorkers secretly LOVE chain stores. Yes, you may be moving to the city from a suburb where stores like Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond rule strip malls. But, since stores like that have invaded the city, people have been wondering how they lived without them in the first place. Sometimes I like going to a store like Bed Bath and Beyond to wander the aisles when I feel homesick about my Southern California suburban life. I think a lot of people must feel the same way, as you can glimpse people with blissed out expressions on their faces at these stores.

(10) Don’t let anyone tell you that New Yorkers are rude! The New Yorkers I know are polite, civilized and helpful. We stop and help out with directions when we’re not in a rush. We open doors for people. When riding the subway, we offer up a seat to the elderly. When things get lost in cabs or in public places, we often contact the owner and find a way to return them to the owner. I’ve had two instances of strangers returning a lost wallet from a cab.

Online Dating Vol 3. Justin Bobby

First of all-I am BEYOND honored to be featured on Dream Sequins today! Check it out! Dream Sequins is one of my favorite blogs and new friends, and it meant a lot that she asked me to be part of her Behind the Blog series! So since I’ve got fashion handled there for the day, let’s discuss some matters of the heart. Kinda.

Please don’t say I told you so, bloggy banana friends. I promised when I started this online dating nonsense I’d give you all the gory details. Kthxbai…here’s the story of the 4th…Do you know who “he” TOTALLY reminds me of? Justin Bobby from the Hills. So I am now going to refer to him as J.B.

As some of you know-the (judgemental vegan) J.B totally flaked on me yesterday.

On. The. 4th. Of . July.

Pause for reaction.

Back story-his band played at Universal Studios on Fri night. I didn’t go, because I thought it might be a lil stalkerific. He texts me after, he’s so excited to see me, etc…he’s going to a few bars in Hollywood with the band…his texts turn into drunken texts until 5am. I wake up, laugh at his texts, run to Starbucks, read some blogs…and wait for him to call/text me like he said he would. Nothing.

Now, I have A LOT of (fake ha) hair. (I didn’t name this blog Unbeweavable for nothin!) First date hair vs mellow hanging out with the girls/family hair are 2 different animals, right? Can I get an AMEN on that? I didn’t want to start fully getting ready until I heard from him.( Total date hair inspiration below, love it.)I call and it goes straight to voicemail where I leave a very mellow, casual message. (Inner monologue-am I being punked? wtf?)

I talk to some of you. We agree he is probably passed out from the previous evenings quasi rockstar shenanigans. We also agree it’s best not to get “first date ready” because it’s looking like I’ve got a waste of hair and make-up on my hands.

Fast forward- to 5ish, (we were supposed to hang out at 1.) Text-”Oh shit, I just woke up.”

Pause again for reaction.

By this time, I am on to other things for the evening, and that text, without an apology, got no response from me. Now here’s where things get complicated-er.

He calls me at 1030-I am home watching the Devil Wears Prada and hoping my dog doesn’t have a heart attack due to the fireworks.(Ms. Bella is not a fan.) Leaves VM “I really need to talk to you. Please call me.” etc, etc.

Pissed off Latina that I am, I call him. Gloves are on, ding ding!! He tells me that he was too nervous to meet me, because he really likes me and he panicked at the last minute because he got scared I wouldn’t like him in person. He says he realized what a big mistake he made, so sorry, blahblahblah, and is there anyway he can make it up to me this week?

This is more than just being nervous. He didn’t give me time to make other plans really, he just FLAKED. How rude! (Do you guys hear Michelle Tanner from Full House when I say that…or is that just me?)

We’ve since talked again and made plans…again. I like him. Am I making a big mistake? Don’t answer that. Everybody deserves a second chance, right? ( Answer that one.)

Disclaimer-I am not looking to be treated like crap, and I don’t put up with it. The only reason I would consider giving Justin Bobby another chance is because the dude gives me crazy butterflies, there is some kind of chemistry and let’s be real…he’s HOT. I will also never reserve a holiday for a guy I’ve never met. EVER. Life Lesson #786353 learned.

My weekend wasn’t a complete failure! I did a lot of this…
