Wow, what a week, I feel like it’s been a roller coaster of sorts, both online and off. Again, I can’t thank the 20sb community enough for the award, and on that note, I’m excited that 20sb has reached 10,000 members! (I’m sure more by now!) That’s a whole lotta talent right there, and so many positive people.

Last night, I was inspired by this post written by one of my favorite bloggers, Matt of Life Without Pants. Our blogs couldn’t be more different, but isn’t that the beauty of blogging? He’s awesome, check it out. His post was about Why Every Blogger Should Have a Non-Blogger Spouse, and while I don’t have a spouse, or someone I can comfortably classify as a significant other (yet ohhh), I do have a guy who says, “Step away. Turn it off. You’re intelligent and beautiful and let’s have lunch. The sun is shining. The internet will still love you (or hate on you haha) in a day or two.”

So that’s what I’m going to do! I think a spontaneous road trip to Vegas is in the works this weekend to see
Kathleen-blog friend turned real life friend whom I miss. If not, there will be long walks. Ribs are better, so I plan on serving cute boy his ass in tennis. There are movies I want to see, it’s Always Sunny marathons with said cute boy…he bought cookies and cream ice cream…if you remember this post. :)

My point is, everyone needs some time to recharge and unplug. I need to look people who know me in real life in the eyes, and hug them, devote 100% of my mind and energy, and honestly not have to explain anything about myself for a few days.

Lovers! I am not sad, down or depressed! Very happy and blessed, actually. I have just recognized that I need a little Liz time to get my badass balance back, and I’ll be back on Monday. So don’t you dare leave me “feel better” comments! I will be very mad at you!!

Instead…how do you recharge? Do you think it’s important to do so? Will you be in Vegas this weekend? :)

It is important to recharge. Sometimes we do need a reality check to allow ourselves to do it. It looks like you came back with some higher (blog) heels as a comeback!!

2 WendyB January 7, 2010 at 4:32 pm

Have fun!

3 Brunch at Saks January 7, 2010 at 4:32 pm

Totally agree. Recharging is so necessary. I do the same- talk with friends, walk along the beach, go hiking, shop…anything where I am detached from technology, computer screens, TV, etc. Have a fabulous and relaxing weekend doing what you desire! XOXO

4 Melissa January 7, 2010 at 4:36 pm

Yes! Recharging is fantastic.
Rest your mind, your spirit, your laptop. Ahh, does a body good!

I recharge with music and if I'm lucky enough to have some money laying around some shopping. Nothing huge but it's nice to buy things sometimes.

=)

5 Hanako66 January 7, 2010 at 4:36 pm

my non blogging spouse, who i guess kind of is a blogging spouse (if you count under 5 posts and twitter lurker a blogger? idk) doesn't get it. i think it takes a blogging friend (just so happens you have one in moi) who understands the love and heart you put into this old thing to tell you that you are wonderful and you take all the time that you need.

i recharge with movie marathons, family time, dog snuggling sleepovers, and some time outside with my camera…don't forget your pink room in the tucky is always ready.

your vegas carrot you are dangling in front of me is borderline cruel, but i love you anyways:)

6 Elizabeth Marie January 7, 2010 at 4:38 pm

Ali!!! You know you want to come to VEGAS with me!!!!! Let's talk to Rantastic!

7 Hanako66 January 7, 2010 at 4:39 pm

8 Allison January 7, 2010 at 4:40 pm

Haha! I had to write that same "i'm not sad…or depressed" crap on my blog about not being sad..(do ppl think you are i are depressed all the time or something??!!??)

Vegas will be fun!

9 Meghan January 7, 2010 at 4:48 pm

I have been thinking of you these past few days. I truly admire your positive attitude. I think you totally deserve a weekend in Vegas and I am SO jealous. Can you please visit Blush at the Wynn and Mesa Grill for me?!?!? Rock it, girl!

10 Kendall January 7, 2010 at 4:51 pm

After hitting a rough patch last May, I stepped away from the Internet. I spent most of the summer traveling and playing music and reading and meeting beautiful women. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and come September was feeling completely refreshed.

While I love my blog friends, talking to someone on Ghat or Twitter has nothing on being able to just relax and watch a movie with my roommate or play video games with her.

Sadly I won't be in Vegas this weekend, this flu has canceled all my plans. Sigh. But I will, most likely, be there in May for the Sin City meetup.

Looking forward to meeting the badass Liz.

Sorry for the mini-novel.

11 carina January 7, 2010 at 5:01 pm

Wishing i could hop in the car with you and Gabby (whom in my head, I strangely refer to as "Gabba-dabba-do" and all go visit our favorite small town squirrel.

Many besos! c

Yay for blogging breaks! I take them allthefreakintime and don't even give y'all advance notice! Enjoy your time away and your cute boy. XOXO

13 lbluca77 January 7, 2010 at 5:27 pm

You know after I stopped blogging for a few months, then deleted my blog, then started a new one I never felt better.

I think after a certain amount of time people spend blogging they unintentionally forget they have lives outside of the internet. Blogging is supposed to be fun, but yes everyone needs to step away for a little bit at least.

And the people that never take blog breaks you can start to see it in their posts. (I'm not talking about you, you're always great) I don't mean it in a mean way, just that you can tell when people start to lose their flair with blogging. Trust me I know, I was one of those people and probably still am.

Have fun in Vegas.

14 curiousillusion.com January 7, 2010 at 5:58 pm

Awww I think it's totally necessary to recharge. You go on, and get back in touch with your bad self, we'll be waiting patiently (or not so patiently) for ya! Have fun!!!

15 kathleen January 7, 2010 at 5:59 pm

LOVE it! Get your badass self here. Your girl just got struck with a serious case of the oh-shit-i-think-i'm-depressed episodes. And the only cure for that is you and that sister of yours. And Carina, but maybe we can all call her. I'm proud of you for taking a little break. Everybody just needs time to take care of themselves. I love you!

16 Chelsea Talks Smack January 7, 2010 at 6:01 pm

I recharge with….wine? ha. And family time. And movies. ANNND YOGA.

17 Morgan January 7, 2010 at 6:01 pm

Have fun with the recharging! I go to the coast with the hubs and eat a TON of freaking seafood when I need a break. Always does the trick.

18 Matthew January 7, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Always important to take time and unplug – you'll come back refueled and recharged, ready to take the world by storm. And the beauty of it? We'll be right here waiting for you when you come back!

19 Fashion Therapist January 7, 2010 at 7:23 pm

LOVE It's Always Sunny….one of my fave shows.

20 Karls January 7, 2010 at 7:24 pm

I have a non-blogging spouse… thank eff! Otherwise I'd probably have left Micko for my computer by now.

I recharge by floating around in the river or the ocean, a walk on the beach, a trip out in the kayak or cuddles with my furry baby.

Time out! Wish I was in Vegas!

21 Heather January 7, 2010 at 7:26 pm

I wish I was going to be in Vegas! Have tons of fun!

22 Marian January 7, 2010 at 7:31 pm

Funny you mention Vegas as I just finished watching the Hangover. Think Southwest has some killah deals on flights this weekend from Baltimore. We could create the female version:)

A good brunch with the girls, mani and pedis, shopping spree, and then some drinks and apps always helps me recharge!!

Have a fabulous weekend lovah

23 Tia January 7, 2010 at 7:39 pm

Have a blast and come back super badass!!!

24 Miss Kriss January 7, 2010 at 7:52 pm

Recharged or not, Vegas isn't ready for your sheer badassness.

Have fun!

25 ~KS January 7, 2010 at 7:55 pm

No sympathy from me… you go recharge that badass of yours :)

How do I recharge?? Hmmm… I bake, have a little movie marathon, grab a Starbucks, go to a movie with friends… nothing exciting, but it always works!

26 Rasha January 7, 2010 at 8:21 pm

recharge your bad ass self… :)

Love you.

27 yours truly dear January 7, 2010 at 8:29 pm

"Vegas, bitches!" haha, ever seen the bad girls club? hmm, maybe too trashy for you haha. anyways, im jealous. i wish i could go. i usually just watch movies and eat lots of food. or get a facial. yum.. have fun girl!

28 Ashley January 7, 2010 at 8:33 pm

Ahh, I love Vegas and It's Always Sunny marathons. Have a great time! I usually recharge by spending time alone, which is not nearly as fun as Vegas!

29 floreta January 7, 2010 at 8:38 pm

i agree. i think the concept of 'opposites' in a relationship is a good one.

30 Marta January 7, 2010 at 8:39 pm

Elizabeth, as I'm old and in my 30's I didn't even know you was the futured blogger on 20's something! I saw it on Twitter, congrats! Efff ignorance, and have fun road trip!
I still love you!

Marta

31 Andhari January 7, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Vegas? HOW FUN, I wanna gooooo tooooo :) have a crazy and amazing weekend.

Ps. I so know what you mean by paying attention to non-blogging world and non-blogging friends too :) we do need one of those times. I call it having the best of both worlds a la Hannah Montana lol

Pss. Can't believe I quoted Hannah Montana in a sentence. #fail

32 Ams January 7, 2010 at 9:20 pm

I'll join you in Vegas… honestly.
No wait, not honestly – if I didn't have my kids I would be on a plane right now. (Almost booked a ticket to the Domincan actually!! lol)
Recharge, relax… feel 100% better.
We are blessed indeed.

33 Lindsay [Bella Cene'] January 7, 2010 at 9:22 pm

Vegas will be so much fun! Wish I were there! (Or not… because I'd probably lose wayyyy too much money) lol

Recharge :) We'll be here when you get back.

34 Shop N' Chomp January 7, 2010 at 9:26 pm

35 eQ January 7, 2010 at 9:58 pm

Your going toVegs toooo???? uuuggghhhh!!!!

I wanna go. I know a couple people there for CES and AVN…Well, not really for the AVN awards, but I do know of some of the porn stars.

Have fun! Put $10 on 28 at the roulette table for me.

HUGS!

36 Nathanael Rey January 7, 2010 at 10:06 pm

It's DEFINITELY important to recharge. Unfortunately the hour nap I took today is the only recharging I will be able to get this month, probably. I love to hike. Mt. Beacon actually has a pretty decent trail.

37 .:*aMbAr*:. January 7, 2010 at 10:19 pm

Girl!!! I hope that by "weekend" you mean friday-saturday, or I will be very, VERY sad :(

Well, I guess I'll e-mail u tonight or tomorrow. I'm still game for Sunday :D

38 Lisa January 7, 2010 at 10:38 pm

Dude, I totally understand how you feel. Every now and then I have to force myself to STEP AWAY FROM THE ELECTRONICS. Plus, I read in Cosmo once that it's essential for our health to just..unplug and become unreachable every now and then!

So go, enjoy some Vegas and drinks and tennis and boys and tv! Just relax and have a great time!

Also, I just now realized that you live in LA and I'm like there all the time! I actually live in SD but my bf and I go to LA at least once a month, or whenever we feel like it really. Most of our good friends live up there…so yeah. Point is, one of these days we should meet up! :P If we ever get the chance. Haha

And: my bf does not blog. Like at all. He barely facebooks. So he definitely reminds me (READ: closes my laptop) to get out and enjoy life every now and then. :P lmao!

39 "Julie" January 7, 2010 at 11:08 pm

enjoy your "liz" time girl! you deserve it!

I recharge with vino, glamour magazine, loud ass music, a cuddly bathrobe, and some champers…maybe a makeout sesh but those aren't widely available these days…oh and shopping…and a good long run!

40 Kristin January 7, 2010 at 11:16 pm

I WISH I could recharge in Vegas with you lover. Five weeks baby and we're NYC city bound. Remember what you told me…lie trumps blog!

41 Dustjacket Attic January 7, 2010 at 11:37 pm

One of my new years resolutions was to try to step away from the computer more and spend more time in "real life" I haven't done so well this week but I'm trying.

I hope you have a fab weekend in Vegas? Do you ever gamble?? If so I hope you win BIG!

52 quarter-life lady. January 8, 2010 at 6:44 am

I'll be in Vegas if you come to Pittsburgh and put me out of my snow misery. You can stuff me in the luggage.

If not, I'll be at work.

53 Mrs EyeCanSee January 8, 2010 at 6:58 am

55 Melly January 8, 2010 at 7:30 am

Everyone needs some time away. Sometimes you just get sick of living life through a computer screen. Have a great weekend!!

56 learnxtoxfly January 8, 2010 at 7:44 am

I def think everyone needs time to recharge! Thats why I set aside time for vacation every year. Caught the vacation bug from my rents for sure.

And wish I was in Vegas. =[

57 themaddychronicles January 8, 2010 at 8:11 am

Anything (including blogging) can be an energy vacuum. I think we all go through that. Enjoy the break :)

58 themaddychronicles January 8, 2010 at 8:11 am

Anything (including blogging) can be an energy vacuum. I think we all go through that. Enjoy the break :)

59 Grace Boyle January 8, 2010 at 8:37 am

Oh god, it's so so true. I wrote a post about how I had just gone on vacation and took a dare to not bring my computer and turn off my Blackberry. I won and it was amazing.

I too, am so active online for my job and personally (twitter, blogging, facebook, etc.) However, many of my friends are not and it's just nice to not mention a single thing about the online world, unplug and enjoy. It's necessary for everyone!

60 Kristen January 8, 2010 at 9:30 am

that is exactly how i recharge myself. well, that and a cig and some drinks. lol. big hugs from family & friends. can't live without it. love it. and love you, liz!

61 J-Diggety January 8, 2010 at 9:35 am

Oh shit girl, you have no idea how much I would LUV a girls weekend in Vegas… spa treatments, shopping, good food and drinks, all with the ladies… not that I can afford anything close to this, but a girl can dream! ;) How do I recharge… the sun recharges me hella well, so hells bells, maybe I *do* need a vacay… this subzero winter biz is no good for my mojo :P

Have a FAB weekend, you deserve it!!
xoxo J

62 Living and Loving in L.A. January 8, 2010 at 9:43 am

My weekends are how I recharge. By shopping, running, relaxing, and watching crap-tastic tv. That's my idea of relaxing!!!
Hope you have a fabulous weekend, sweetie pie! And thanks so so much for your comment on the bangs situation! I'm so going for it!
Love you!

xoxo

66 Brittney January 8, 2010 at 10:44 am

I have recently had moments where I'm like, "GD IT! NO ONE LIKES ME ONLINE!" and it takes those moments for me to get utterly embarassed and go.. for realz? And then I usually log off and call a pal in real life. <3

67 Summer {Bisfor...} January 8, 2010 at 10:48 am

should i admit that at 32 years of age, i have never been to vegas? ouchie.

i love you, my little energizer bunny.

68 Patty Ann January 8, 2010 at 11:07 am

Okay….don't know how I can recharge after last nights Longhorns defeat, you see Pittman and I were planning a shopping trip today but after last night I'm afraid he's no longer in the spending mood. Just my luck. I wish I was in Vegas this weekend, but my friend Vanessa is so if you see her say hello!

Of course I don't think you'll see her, especially because you don't know her I was just trying to be funny.

I def need a recharge.

69 Leah January 8, 2010 at 11:54 am

Liz… I will be in SF this weekend. If I'd known you'd be in Vegas, I should have said YES to one invite to go to Vegas this weekend. But I need some cold, so SF here I come.

70 Mara January 8, 2010 at 12:07 pm

I WISH I was going to be in Vegas! Recharging is definitely one of the most important things. Have an amazing weekend Liz!! xox

71 Jaime January 8, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Vegas to recharge… woo! Enjoy! :)

72 nifer January 8, 2010 at 1:03 pm

With you in Vegas, I wish I was going to be there! I've never been. : (

Yeah… um… my boyfriend doesn't blog, and I don't think he quite "gets" it, which is probably good because he's that person who tells me to get my head outta the blogosphere and talk to some real people. I think that is definitely important! We can't live virtually 24/7. Yuck!

Enjoy your "unplugged" weekend. Like Eric Clapton… LOL… so random.

73 The Socialite January 8, 2010 at 1:16 pm

I'm allll about recharging! Have an amazing time in Vegas cutie! I was going to go this weekend too, but I opted to go to Santa Barbara area instead and drink some wine and relax – aka not spend as much money as I would in Vegas. haha :)

XO

74 Kellie January 8, 2010 at 2:21 pm

I WISH I would be in Vegas this weekend. Unfortunately I am still going to be stuck in this arctic freaking tundra. SO cold!

Good news, we are going to a Japanese steakhouse tonight for dinner and after that I plan on cuddling all weekend b/c the cold sucks.

Um and now you have me wanting cookies and cream ice cream. Bad. Yum… :)

Happy Friday luvkins!

75 Chessa! January 8, 2010 at 2:58 pm

Thankfully I have a guy who tells me to unplug and I listen! I usually don't even look at the computer on Saturdays and most of the day on Sunday. Of course I have my iphone but it's not as huge of a distraction on the weekends…

To really unwind I just go to the gym or for a walk. On the weekends we go to the park and get lunch and have it on a bench (altho not now bc it's the freaking tundra here) or we go to a museum or a movie or whatever…

also, we have a very basic rule in our house…no computers, blackberries, iphone or regular telephones in our bedroom. needless to say we don't have a television in there. our little room is an oasis…except for our annoying alarm clock. :)

I won't tell you to "feel better" – besides, I already know you're fabulous;-) take as much time as you need…we all do! and you deserve it! go get a mani/pedi! and have so much fun in Vegas!!

xx

76 Treacle January 8, 2010 at 3:43 pm

Have fun! Taking time for myself is one of my resolutions for 2010. I tend to go and go and go until I collapse from exhaustion…not really the best idea.

77 Linda January 8, 2010 at 4:05 pm

I recharge by putting on sweatpants and sitting on the couch.

exactly what i'm doing now

78 alexkeller January 8, 2010 at 5:54 pm

i would love to join you in vegas, but i've got lots of work this weekend – making loads of pieces that are going on a road trip ….
have a great weekend, and have a cocktail for me!

79 Ashley January 8, 2010 at 8:29 pm

I go shopping to recharge! It's actually not the best therapy, as it can get me in trouble with money (which will later stress me out), but while I'm shopping, I don't have a care in the world!

completely agree! I need to recharge, calm down. The internet is taking over my life too much.
have you watched your season of how i met your mother yet?

83 Nahl January 9, 2010 at 11:00 am

Talking to people about my issues is always recharging.
Have fun in Vegas!

84 Barry January 9, 2010 at 11:39 am

I've seen your name pop up everywhere and finally decided to stop by and see who you are.

'Fashion blogs' generally don't hold my attention, but I'm pleasantly surprised by your site. After reading through some of your posts it's obvious you have a lot to say about other aspects of life as well. I think if those who don't know you dug deeper they'd see more to you than just a gorgeous profile pic. People are too quick to judge.

I love your edginess and attitude here. I think I might be back.

Have a deliciously fun time in Vegas!

85 PorkStar January 9, 2010 at 1:24 pm

Very nice post.

I agree and a good time off from everything is always necessary. You'll always have your followers here, even more so those of us who totally adore you.

Have fun in vegas.

Cute boy huh?

: )

86 Classy in Philadelphia January 9, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Have fun unplugged and recharging. You def. deserve it.

I find it SO hard to unplug. I love being constantly connected even though I know it's addicting and bad!

87 Martinis or Diaper Genies? January 9, 2010 at 7:00 pm

congrats sister. Heart you, miss you! I've been a terrible blog friend lately. I give you the sexy blog friend award. Most of my blog friends are nasty. Sorry it's true blog friends….

88 Erika January 9, 2010 at 8:20 pm

Lovey, I absolutely adore your outlook on life right now! No one can bring you down but yourself; recharge and release all our frustrations. And once that's complete, dish about cute boy!!

Got your e-mail by the way; I'm so sorry I haven't responded yet. I feel completely drained right now – I literally collapsed for three hours from exhaustion, and just woke up. Crazy-ness is abound right now – expect an e-mail soon!! :)

89 Chic 'n Cheap Living January 10, 2010 at 1:40 am

So necessary to recharge.

Oooh and have fun with the cute boy and whoop him good at tennis.

Still in cold London but would love to hit those Bellagio buffets. Mmmmm.

91 Yvonne January 10, 2010 at 8:29 am

92 Savvy Gal January 10, 2010 at 9:55 am

93 Melanie's Randomness January 10, 2010 at 4:19 pm

95 Ashley @ KiwisandCocktails January 11, 2010 at 12:49 pm

I feel like I have been recharging for quite some time now! ah, I hope to be all charged soon!
ANd, I like that post about having a non blogger spouse! ha. My spouse is a non blogger and does not even read my blog (Which I am happy with) but sometimes I could sit on my computer for HOURS if he was not there to get me to go do something and get off my butt!

96 rachel elizabeth January 12, 2010 at 10:01 am

oh that is amazing. i miss vegas. have an amazing time with your ladies recharging.
