Hey dolls!
A little weekend re-cap, L.A Style…I feel like I played tourist in my own backyard this weekend which is kinda fun…Let’s bullet point this ish.
- Friday night-Dinner and cocktails with Jessica. Good girl talk. It was nice to hang out with someone who is at the exact same place in life as me-”technically” single, career minded and just kinda going with the flow. It was super fun and badly needed. I wasn’t having a very photogenic evening…I looked like casper next to Jess! Whatev, can’t win em all! Speaking OF…COME ON LAKERS! Boo. Ok. Moving on…
- Then the boy came to meet up with us, and surprised me with a bottle of the rare vino we’d loved when we had dinner inside Disneyland a few weeks ago. Aw. Points!
- SATURDAY! Intended to sit on my bum, read blogs and watch T.V until getting ready for our dinner date but he surprised me again with…let’s go to the Getty! Ok, I know it was a Saturday in L.A but the traffic was particularly more heinous than usual…and the Getty was so crowded. Like typical L.A folk, we hate crowds and tourists, so pass.
- On to Griffith Park, because why would that be crowded too? Ha, yeah…basically we would have had to park in Downtown L.A and hike all the way up, and I was wearing heels of course…but it was pretty driving up in the hills, listening to good music.
- Well. We tried. New plan…DRINKS! Tapas and sangria at the coolest, most authentic lil Spanish bar on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. I highly recommend Bar Pintxo. Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with Spanish cheese? Yum! Third street is a fun place to walk around and see some amazing, and some not so amazing street performers too.
- Then we went to see 2012. I hadn’t heard of this movie because the action/adventure/end of the world genre is notsamuch my thing, but it was really good! Completely unrealistic and cheesy, but John Cusack can really do no wrong in my eyes and it seemed kinda fitting to see a typical Hollywood blockbuster after spending the day playing tourist in L.A.
- Do ya’ll like my new blog design?! I LOVE IT! I wanted something so fresh and so clean clean…and my girl crush Annemarie from Brunch at Saks did an ahhhmazing job!! We talked on Friday and my blog was done by Sunday! We’re still playing with a few things too. I love her to pieces and can’t wait to hit some sample sales and force her to be my new L.A partner in crime!
If you need any blog help, you must must must go to Annemarie! Srsly. Thank you lady, love you!

Man, anything to beat LA crowds and traffic seems difficult for a native even!! But a car full of fun music is definitely more fun than hiking in hills! Hubby and I just let Pandora do it's thing, and I am a happy camper! Glad you had a lovely weekend – xoxo!

I looooved Third Street Promenade when we were in Cali back in '07. I want to go back NOW! I distinctly remembering a convo JD and I had walking down the street. It was one of the first times we talked about the logistics of getting married (since we lived in different towns and whatnot). Awwwww.

Also: what a fun weekend. I love Third Street Promenade, I have to say. Even though I grew up in SoCal, I still play tourist when I visit.
The Mr. wanted me to tag along and watch 2012 with him, bc he's a SciFi geek, but I refused and went shopping all day on Sunday. Um… three hours of shopping versus three hours in a theatre? The choice is obvi.

1) New blog design = love!
2) Yay for bullet points – whenever I feel the need to truly get my point across I resort to bullet points and numbers. Just realized I'm doing it right now.
3) Driving around listening to music – especially if it's mix tapes – is one of the cutest things on the planet to do! I envy you for getting to. I need to find a cute boy who will do this with me!
My weekend was full of Light White Chocolate Mochas from Starbucks and the sniffles. I need to start spending my weekends with you lovey!

Great blog design! It's suddenly so bright here! Glad you had such a fab weekend… I love playing tourist in my own town, although it's really more fun to be doing it on a date. I think when I had friends visiting 4 weekends in a row, I actually started gagging when I approached the Notre Dame for the umpteenth time… haha. Ooh, and good to know 2012 is a good flick. I wasn't sure if it was worth checking out.

I like having time to just talk with my girls at dinner too. I had a long talk with some of my girls last week who were in my same situation, and it was sooo incredible and therapeautic.
oh there is a definite blog meet up in feb! deets coming really soon. but i can't tell you that it's definitely in the week of the 15th!
i'm coming down from the frozen north to do some california-touristy things myself. and meeting some lovely bloggers is part of that agenda!

sounds like a great weekend! I love the Getty, but it is a pain when it is overrun with people. and I've only been to the observatory once, but I loved it. I want to go back and hike to the Hollywood sign. I think that would be fun. and I LOVE Third Street. I've never been to Bar Pintxo though, only walked by. My fave place on Third Street is an Italian restaurant called Trastevere– yummy bruschetta and pasta!– and Cafe Crepe– one banana Nutella crepe, please! so good, I want to go there now!
