As much as I’d love to do a weekend recap, I don’t have time, yo. We have serious fashion business to attend to over here, so I hope you’re ready. I will just say that Sangria from a bottle is not too bad…who knew? Amen to the new black.

Speaking of black. I need a new LBD! Then one of my badgers said she needs one too! In all my excitement over doing the makeup for THE HUGE WEDDING this weekend, I forgot that I need something to wear because I’m staying and making the open bar my biatch hanging out with my girl Hanako66. Immediately thought LBD! Enter… Net-A-Porter. I will be the first to say I have theeee most expensive taste ever. It’s a wee bit of a problem. Enter the lovely Kristin of Bonbon Rose. Quite possibly the most famous clothed chick on the internet. Most definitely one of my favorite girls ever. I begged asked for her take on the LBD and a collaboration was born.

Here are my top 5 LBD’s OVER $200 and I promise no $13,000 Balmain’s, I’m going to try this whole “realism” thing out…followed by Kristin’s fabulous frocks coming in under $200. (I just said frocks.)
Elizabeth and James $495 (I rillyrilly want this one.)

Alice + Olivia Cutout Dress $365

Alexander Wang $595
Marc by Marc Jacobs $500
Preen $400

WAIT FOR IT…BOOYA!!! This might be my new favorite…BADASS.

KRISTIN’S UP!
Oh yeah, I’m back baby. I am, of course, super psyched to be once again gracing this rocktastic blog. Lady Liz is my bloggy guru and I lurrrrrrrrve her! Ok, enough of the hero worship. Let’s get to it. Anyone who has seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s knows the importance of having a little black dress in one’s wardrobe. The perfect LBD is something you can always count on, much like a significant other. That’s right babe. I just compared you to a dress. If you read my
blog you might have caught me comparing my man candy to an article of clothing before. I love fashion and I love my dude. It’s the ultimate compliment you see. Ah ha. Anyhoo, being that finding a good deal gives me a sugar high, ten points if you can name that movie reference, I present you with five budget friendly versions of this staple that every girl should have hanging in her closet.

Aqua at Bloomingdale’s $78
Fred Flare $60
Forever 21 $24.80
Arden B. $68 Silence and Noise at Urban Outfitters $58

A little somethin for everyone. Thoughts? Big ups to Kristin WOOP WOOP!

Have an amazing Monday dollfaces!
XOXO,
Liz

Oh and total shameless self plug, for sure-but if you missed my Proust Questionnaire on Femme Rationale on Friday…its here. :)

love you lady…thank you for ALWAYS being there for me…lika whoa!

4 Brown Girl August 23, 2009 at 6:16 pm

The Arden B one is totally up my alley, I heart ruffles. Alexander Wang is a close second if I want to be dirt poor for months…which is an option!
I hate you for making me realize how being poor sucks…but um, thanks for the reminder.
Hate you if I didn't love you!

5 Allison August 23, 2009 at 6:32 pm

Ha, Kristin's were all under 100!

I HAVE to go shopping for some cute clothes. I have some weddings coming up, but luckily being a bridesmaid in one…I'm set for the actual wedding. too bad I need something for rehearsal..gross!

Liz, I want you to do my makeup for my wedding too! :*(

SANGRIA TWINS!!!

11 WendyB August 23, 2009 at 9:54 pm

I'm very intrigued by the Alice & Olivia!

12 siovhan August 23, 2009 at 10:00 pm

OH I WANT THAT WANG DRESS.
And you would look baddddd-a in that Elizabeth and James. And the cut out dress?! Rock that scandal, woman.

As far as Kristin does, I love the Arden B one. Kudos. Is that the same one as the grey one featured on BBR? And the Fred Flare is cute!

13 ♥Aubrey August 23, 2009 at 10:25 pm

The fabulousness of E&J never disappoints…BUT…WoWzA to PREEN!!! Ooooo that dress and snaps to the back. May i quote…"Baby Got Back" :) -

14 MizzJ August 23, 2009 at 10:29 pm

Ooh girl that A Wang dress is perfection!! That price however is not. Why must you tempt yourself this way?! lol Kristin's look are great too, so I know whatever you wear you are going to, well, look bad-ass ;)

15 kathleen August 23, 2009 at 10:32 pm

Ok, you know how I feel about clothes that cost as much as saving a small African country from decades of poverty, but um… I love you AND you know you have gorgeous taste! My favorites of your choices are the Marc by Marc Jacobs and the Wang. (He, he… "the Wang.") Love it! Oooh, and I need the Arden B. dress and the Silence & Noise.

Can't freaking wait to see you! I'll call you tomrrow. Love you!

16 Sara August 23, 2009 at 10:55 pm

Ah the marc jacobs dress, why do they all have to be gorgeous?
I want to write him a letter, telling him my birthday is coming up and I would love a birthday present haha

17 Jennifer Lee August 23, 2009 at 11:01 pm

The first and the last one for you, although I like the Fred one for myself…

18 .:*aMbAr*:. August 23, 2009 at 11:10 pm

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!! First of all, I'm loving this blog, thanks Kristin!!! and 2nd, I have LBDs [as in more than 1] but looking at these, I'm feeling like I need a new one. Thank goodness for F21 and their amazing prices!!

XO

19 Dustjacket Attic August 23, 2009 at 11:22 pm

Great post girls, LBD is a must have, and you have both picked some winners. It'll be #1 on both counts for me!

xoxo

20 Just Playing Pretend August 23, 2009 at 11:27 pm

I need to hang out here more often. I'm so fashionly challenged I had to google LBD. Seriously.
Now I know.

21 Lisa August 23, 2009 at 11:43 pm

LOVE the Elizabeth and James one! I think you should fly over to London and do a massive shopping spree over here, because I can definitely tell that your style is more London than LA. (I mean that in a good way!!) There's so much over here that you'd love! (Affordable, too!) :) xoxo

22 Allison August 24, 2009 at 12:34 am

I just love Elizabeth and James anythinggg…and that dress is no exception – I can see why you love it so much!
I just adore Kristin…it always amazes me the gorgeous things she finds at such fabulous prices, and these LBDs are no exception.
Love that you're drinking sangria out of a bottle (I didn't know it existed..thank youuu for teaching me something new), I love your new profile picture, and I'm sorry I have been a disgusting friend and haven't written on your blog sooner! Packing all my crap up for school is ex-hausting! But no excuse =)
Love you girl, talk to you SOON!

23 Manju August 24, 2009 at 12:37 am

24 janettaylor August 24, 2009 at 12:43 am

Cool little black post Honey Liz!

Have a fresh week!
XoXo

25 FabBlab August 24, 2009 at 12:43 am

From Liz's list-
Alice and Olivia cutout dress.
Marc by Marc Jacobs (woooo)
and the Alex Wang
Preen! Omg. *dies*
From Kristin's
The fit of the Bloomingdale's one is phenomenal.
And the Silence and Noise one is pure perfection.
Stunniiing post, girlies!
XO

26 DesBisoux August 24, 2009 at 2:50 am

Kristin really rocks!

27 liferehab August 24, 2009 at 3:17 am

The Alexander Wang one is amazing!! I would love it if I had money. I would happily settle for any of the under $200 ones. They're all gorgeous. I can't pick just one!

28 Jen August 24, 2009 at 3:51 am

Over from Bon Bon. Love the dress ideas. The LBD is essential and having more than one is always a good idea.

29 LifestyleBohemia August 24, 2009 at 3:53 am

The Elizabeth and James dress is gorgeous. But I guess I'd take the Arden B dress as a budget-friendly back-up.

Just discovered your blog & loving it :)

30 The Haute-Shopper August 24, 2009 at 5:10 am

Oooh, this is the nicest way to start a Monday.. with pretty dresses. I'm loving the A. Wang and the Preen (yes, I'll always root for a British brand) from your selection. The back of the Preen dress is gorgeous… I guess I like LBDs to have a bit of ooomph as well. I honestly think the MBMJ dress is a little pricey considering MJ's diffusion line tends to be not that well-made (just my experience).

Really love Kristin's choices. The last UO dress is my favorite and I quite like the Arden B number, but have to see the ruffles IRL. Anyhow, I"m sure you'd look fab in all of them! Hope you had a great weekend! :)

31 Midtown Girl August 24, 2009 at 5:12 am

I am all over that Wang.

Do I sound like a perv? lol!!

And dollface kristin's Arden b pick is pure cuteness ;-)

ps – what's the stat on the badass bebe's, chickie…didjya get?

Muahs Lizzy girl – XOXO

32 Aritza, Goddess of .. August 24, 2009 at 5:21 am

Sure, you could say you only NEED one good LBD but I can't lie to you I WANT them all !! Black goes well with my heart :) Uhm, actually, my heart is pink but whatever .. I heart black !

F21 is totally unbeatable with the prices .. I can NOT wait until the one here opens .. actually, it might have opened already, MUST VERIFY ! lol

Have an awesome monday (is that ever possible? Oh yes, actually, when your guy has just returned from a 3-week vacay .. the morning after is pretty AWESOME!)!!

P.S. Posted a pic of my new booties on my blog !

33 Simply Colette August 24, 2009 at 5:32 am

Great guest post Kristin. :) Love those LBDs! xoxo

34 drollgirl August 24, 2009 at 5:33 am

ooooooooooooooooooooooooo! love the elizabeth and james, the bad ass one, and the preen one, too! they are all fab!

dontcha wish you could get them ALL?

have a fab monday! DO IT.

p.s. tell me it wasn't boone's farm sangria. been there, done that, huge hangover (years ago). :)

35 E August 24, 2009 at 5:39 am

I love that Silence and Noise dress!! And that Alice and Olivia one would be a great DIY!

36 Little Red August 24, 2009 at 6:05 am

Great post! Loving the Elizabeth and James and Alexander Wang dresses. Loving the UO one as well. Gorgeous!

37 Margarita August 24, 2009 at 6:11 am

I LOVE the Alexander Wang & the Marc Jacobs. So so gorgeous!!

38 Taylor August 24, 2009 at 6:14 am

The Marc Jacobs one is definitely my favorite and I am realllllly in need of a LBD. But seeing as I'm super-cheap? I'll probably opt for the Fred Flare, which is also super cute.

39 freeteyme August 24, 2009 at 6:17 am

I love them all but these are my top 3: (1) Alexander Wang – the asymmetrical detail is fab; (2) Preen – the back zipper and tie is so hot and (3) Arden B. just looks very flattering all over!

Great choices Liz!

Btw, what are you talking about? YOU are the ultimate cool!!! ;-)

40 Keith August 24, 2009 at 6:18 am

Hey Liz. Wow. Those are some really smashing dresses. All of them are smokin' hot. Hope you have a great week. Cheers!

41 nifer August 24, 2009 at 6:18 am

Love the Alexander Wang (what is my obsession with one-shoulder??)! Ladies, check out White House/Black Market for really awesome LBD's… under $200! That's where I scored mine, a short, slinky, low-back, spaghetti-strap number. I've worn it the $150 I paid for it and then some!

42 Dina's Days August 24, 2009 at 6:33 am

Arden B and Forever 21 dresses are lovely!

43 Martinis or Diaper Genies? August 24, 2009 at 6:43 am

The first one is the best! Also American Apparel (i know…) has that one shoulder one to a t. I get compliments on it all the time!

44 Yamila August 24, 2009 at 7:01 am

Hi Doll!! Wow! very nice dresses! But, definitely my favorite: ALEXANDER WANG!! One Shoulder Dress, SO CUTE! (WHY I ALWAYS LIKE THE MOST EXPENSIVE?? i need helpppp!)

Well honey… have a very good monday too! love youuuu!

45 Nickie. August 24, 2009 at 7:04 am

I totally am in love with both of the one shoulders you and Kristin like! =)

I totally need a LBD, actually I need A dress in my wardrobe.

46 chicknamedhermia August 24, 2009 at 7:06 am

I really need an LBD ….I just can't make the commitment, lol!

47 Ashlee August 24, 2009 at 7:23 am

if only I could drink a couple glasses of wine and get confident.. I would def. wear the one from bloomingdales. I love simplicity of it :)

48 Rose Red August 24, 2009 at 7:25 am

I Love love love the dress with the exposed zipper in the back.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love your sister and Kathleen, it means a lot to me that they like my blog. I'm glad I found your blog, you are just as funny as your sis.

Seriously could you be more gorgeous, I hate you ;)

49 Annie August 24, 2009 at 7:25 am

i love the first one!! it's my fave for sure!
i wish i could have expensive taste and act on that taste, hehe.
i'm in more of the $20 range for clothing…
can i live vicariously through your expensive taste in everything!?! please ;)
loves you doll!!
have a great day!! xo

50 Children of the 90s August 24, 2009 at 7:29 am

LOVE these, and I love that you gave a range of prices and styles. You may have named all of my favorite brands in the $200+ category–I will be lusting after these all day!

51 Bella August 24, 2009 at 7:42 am

Darlin' you never fail to impress me… but now, like some wicked little dress-whore, I'm a bit infatuated with the idea of revamping LBD's! Is that so wrong! There's just too many (in this post alone) that I'm craving. Oooh, and don't think I didn't notice the Sangria from a bottle!
love you! xx

52 Gabbi August 24, 2009 at 7:52 am

Gorgeous picks dear Liz… but why why did you have to show me that amazing Marc Jacobs? It's dreamy I tell you!

53 Kellie August 24, 2009 at 8:12 am

Love all of them but my faves are the Elizabeth and James one and the Arden B. I adore ruffles. :)

54 rachel August 24, 2009 at 8:17 am

I looove that (affordable!) Aqua dress.

55 Couture Carrie August 24, 2009 at 8:21 am

Gorgeous post, ladies! So much to love! Especially smitten with the asymmetric Alexander Wang!

xoxox,
CC

56 Hanako66 August 24, 2009 at 8:31 am

omg preen, preen, PREEN!!!!

kudos to Kristin…that f21 dress is superfab

I'm so crazy busy, but had to stop by:)

prob no blogging for this lady this week! love you and see you in 5 DAYS!

57 yiqin; August 24, 2009 at 8:45 am

The cut out one is WAY too amazing. So unique too.

58 Sarah August 24, 2009 at 8:48 am

this has nothing to do with lbd's. i just wanted to let you know that last night i did a jillian michaels workout i found on demand and you're right, she is a whore. she wouldn't let me stop moving even for a second! and now everything hurts. AND! the worst part…i really want to do it again! total whore.

59 Cafe Fashionista August 24, 2009 at 8:52 am

I'm not sure which I covet more – the Fred Flare or the Silence & Noise piece! :)

60 josie(bean) August 24, 2009 at 9:00 am

ooo i love the Wang dress as my top over $200 pick (with the Elizabeth and James close second but only because i adore anything associated with marykate o, crackhead or not!)

fave under $200 are def the FredFlare or F21, simple and chique!! :)

love you both, and your badass steez!

61 HoneyBunny August 24, 2009 at 9:11 am

Oh these are so beautiful! Love them, especially the first one:)
:*

62 Dooder City August 24, 2009 at 9:42 am

Hey Sweetie!
I was thinking about you while I got my hair done yesterday…I needed your support…so she stripped my hair and when that wouldn't work she put copper into it to tone down the violet. I feel like my hair was going into cardiac arrest:(
It turned out so much better but I am kind of traumatized by everything that happened! I am waitng for the perfect hair day to take photos with your hair band in my hair. I hope you had an amazing weekend darling!
Love the little black dresses:)
XO,
HUGGGGGGGSSSS!!!

63 OceanDreams August 24, 2009 at 9:48 am

I am in love with that last dress, just way to sexy thank you very much!!! Hope you have fun with all of the wedded bliss and that your weekend went well. XOXO!

64 Pinky August 24, 2009 at 9:55 am

*le sigh* I'll just drool at the Wang dress over here…soooooome daaaaaaaaaaaay youuuu wiiiill be miiiineeeee…

And thanks for the bloggy-love my Love *smooch*

65 Carissa August 24, 2009 at 10:03 am

I love the Elizabeth and James dress too! but the Arden B. and Fred Flare dresses are good, more realistic, choices too!

66 TheBeautyFile August 24, 2009 at 10:55 am

ooooh love this post!! Totally into the Preen, like yay. Also, LOVE the silence and noise! Can not wait to see which you choose….you must post pics from the wedding!

67 Dream Sequins August 24, 2009 at 11:32 am

Darling. These look hot-mazing. I would probably buy every last one of these LBDs :) I just did a boatload of drycleaning recently and realized that I have about six LBDs in my closet, so alas, I am steering clear of the black for now. But damn. Wonderful choices! I especially like that all of it was affordable!

68 Legallyblondemel August 24, 2009 at 11:50 am

Hello! I also suffer from serious Champagne Tastes. Sigh.

From your higher-end picks, I adore the Alexander Wang; from Kristin's, I'd take that Fred Flare asymmetrical cutie. Great finds!

69 Fashion Court August 24, 2009 at 11:57 am

omg that first dress. i want to like…marry it. good lord, i am obsessed with lbds.

70 TheBeautyFile August 24, 2009 at 12:16 pm

Seriously, Liz, who IS Heidi Montag anyway?????? Like, I just don't get it at all. How did anyone in their right mind wake up one morning and say, "Hey, I've got a great idea….let's book {and PAY} Ms. Montag and have her sing and dance…on a real life stage." The whole thing baffles my mind and makes me laugh gut wrenchingly. I'm rilly rilly nice too!

71 ...love Maegan August 24, 2009 at 12:21 pm

I'd totally wear all of them.

72 Delectable Swank August 24, 2009 at 12:51 pm

I could use these in my closet…LBD…how can you go wrong with any of them? I love how each dress has something unique about it. None are boring!

73 Amber August 24, 2009 at 12:54 pm

The Wang is delish! Ahhhaha I love how dirty that sounds! I'm also loving the Preen one. Now from the ones I could actually afford, I'd have to pick the Silence and Noise one. If I only had somewhere fabulous to wear them…

And just so ya know, I think my Vegas trip ended up being the tamest one you will ever hear about in your life. We didn't even see the other peeps until the day of the wedding because of the whole phone situation so the Mr. and I took it pretty easy, hence the lack of fabulous picture texts. I totally let you down. I should be fired.

Can't wait to hear about all the fun stuff you have coming up! Love your face! XOXO

74 Savvy Gal August 24, 2009 at 1:10 pm

love the alexander wang dress. drooling.

75 Ela August 24, 2009 at 1:24 pm

Ooh Preen please! And Kristin's last find, if it looks as good in person, I love it!
Keep us in the loop with what you did buy :)
Happy Monday, sweet pea.
p.s. just got here…what in the world is there to do here…what am I gonna eat???

76 Diana August 24, 2009 at 1:44 pm

i really like the one with the sleeves! it's modest without being too amish!

77 Summer @ B is for Brown August 24, 2009 at 2:03 pm

these are freaking awesome. hello!!!!

would you want to or even have time to do a guest post for me? i have two things I wanted to ask you about…

NO PRESSURE.

78 Shin August 24, 2009 at 2:48 pm

Gorgeous black dresses! I love all the choices! xxoxoxo

79 Ela August 24, 2009 at 3:00 pm

Elly Whelly is in Columbus…slowly starving…to death…as S takes a *short* aka 3 hr and still going – meeting…curse him and his love for talking.

PMS = TMI? Oh, Lizzy Whizzy, it's gonna take more than that (from you) to scare me off :)

Yeah, it was only a 1hr and something flight just left at 1:30 Toronto time – which haha is also Ohio time. I didn't bother mentioning it was a scheduled post since I schedule THEM all at midnight and I figured my laptop will be fine to keep me posting through the week. Though tomorrow I plan on gallavanting at one or two malls – gosh what else can I do? And hotel internet stinks…sigh.

OK, I've written you a epilogue of my oh-so-snorefest Monday so I will go now…and try to get S to feed me…something more than gummi bears and Twix. They're good but clearly not a meal replacement.

Arms and Muahs to you Lizzy Whizzy :)

80 alexa - cleveland's a plum August 24, 2009 at 3:20 pm

the last dress is my favorite i think. the pleather, the pockets. love.

81 sarah August 24, 2009 at 3:47 pm

Randomly enough, Express has some really great LBDs.

82 Yaya August 24, 2009 at 4:47 pm

Great post! I got the most dynamite LBD recently at Banana Republic.

83 Jill Pilgrim August 24, 2009 at 4:57 pm

Love!

BUT, Kristin, I just want to make sure you know that Liz is mine. Seriously. I will totally girl fight you.

84 alexkeller August 24, 2009 at 5:51 pm

*frock!* i want that Preen dress!

85 carma August 24, 2009 at 5:55 pm

those are some dandy frocks – especially the badass one :D

86 S.Elisabeth August 24, 2009 at 5:59 pm

I love LBDS!! and that Preen dress is freaking amazing!!
Hmm those dresses are so expensive, I'm such a cheapskate I can't even fathom spending much on them…
I am quite partial to the Forever 21 dress though..

87 Laura August 24, 2009 at 6:00 pm

The Marc by Marc Jacobs dress is amazing. Its sassy and stylish all at the same time. Can you please dress me soon sweetie?

88 Kelly August 24, 2009 at 6:12 pm

Love the Preen dress… gotta be my favorite one!

89 clarewbrown August 24, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Oh please do a follow up post about what you did buy! You girls are awesome! That Preen dress is swoon worthy!

90 Mrs EyeCanSee August 24, 2009 at 6:34 pm

Totally diggin' the first one….if I wanted to be on food stamps for a month. The criss cross back is to die for. I also LOVE the Arden B one and the Fred Flair is super cute with it's one shoulder strap.

Ah! So many great LBD's!

91 LENORENEVERMORE August 24, 2009 at 7:27 pm

Alexander Wang should be my best friend ASAP! Fan new week darrrling!

Well, dear, we can not wait to meet you Miss Lizzy Marie!! I totally love your comments…they ALWAYS crack me the f$%& up!!! When is the big move? I think you should name your move, "All Points East…" I rilly rilly want to shop with you…but I have a feeling I am going to have to take out a second mortgage to do so…lololol. We will have to mix a little Bergdorfs with a whole LOTTA F21!

I LOVE the Elizabeth and James (but I don't have the boobs for it) and the Marc Jacobs. It's very girly. On Kristin's I love the Forever 21. It's so cute! Hope you're having a great day!

it's all about Marc Jacobs…isn't always? LOVE
