10 Random Things and Chrystina’s Update…

by Liz on August 16, 2009 · 69 comments

in Elizabeth Marie, Friends, My goals, My history, My sister, Shout out to the ex, Tagged, brooke, chrystina, just a bunch of randomness for you all

{Update on Chrystina-She hasn’t had surgery yet, if I get into it it will just be a really frustrated rant, lets just say hospital transfers take forever…but by the time we wake up tomorrow she should be out of it! Thank you for all the sweet words and prayers-she is able to read them and I know they touched her greatly. I’ll let you know…please keep praying though :) I love you guys…she does too!}

10 Things You Were Just Desperate to Know about Liz.
I know, I know….I’ve made you wait sooo long. Ha. I’m rillyrilly bad with the tags and awards-and I apologize…so I’m putting a bunch of tags in one and then the awards post is comin with links and thank you’s! Promise!

1. I have to listen to music when I’m blogging/writing. Usually the same song over and over. Currently on rotation-Halo (Hellooo pretty Banana), and You Make it Real-James Morrison. ORRR Madonna’s entire Immaculate Collection. Works like a charm.

2. I’ve mentioned this in some comments and been asked about it….I spent 3 months in the Philippines when I was 18, sleeping in tents in the jungle, feeling snakes slither by, showering with buckets, no makeup, no contact with my friends and family in the U.S, doing charity work with children. Dance to be exact-there might have been a language barrier but it’s amazing what music and smiles can transcend. And now I speak some Tagalog! HA! Happiest time in my life, I left a part of my soul there. I was also robbed at knife point and among all my money, they stole my camera. I was devastated. Still am, but the memories are forever stamped on my mind and heart.
(Other than that though, I am not a camper kthxbai.)

3. I worked for M.A.C/Estee for what feels like forever and am sad I left but it’s a family I will always be a part of.

4. I know I’m keeping a guy around for awhile when I go “Tell me a story”…and he does. Ask my ex’s (hellooo gentleman, I know you’re reading/lurking)…they all passed that test. Almost nothing else makes me feel more safe and secure. Hello, I’m a toddler.
5. I have a convertible BMW and the top has not come down once this summer. FAIL. I’m really too high maintenance for a convertible. Or at least the weave is. I have dreams about going on a fab road trip down PCH with a bandana in my hair but not so much…

6. Most embarassing moment-this year, thus far-Umm so I like to sing in my car. Sometimes to the Pussycat Dolls “I Hate This Part”…and sometimes my phone likes to magically dial my good friends HUSBAND…on who’s voice mail I BELTED OUT THAT SONG, with some PASSION, people… better move over, Nicole. They liked to play it back for me/at parties so much they burned it to a C.D. Awesome. JERKS! :)

7. I really like being alone sometimes. Maybe because I’ve always had a wombmate? I get really antsy/bitchy/aggravated if I don’t get enough alone time. I’m either super social or a super recluse.
8. Brings me to this-I am very extreme. I LOVE it or HATE it. This goes for people, shoes, places, you get the picture. This is something I am trying to work on…but it’s also something that just makes me, me. There’s no inbetween…and you better believe if I love it, I’d do anything for it.

9. I am in the baby stages of starting my own Fashion PR/Marketing firm. It’s a huge undertaking, and I am completely intimidated and insecure…but working for myself has always been my dream, and I’ve finally reached a point where I feel I have the solid foundation in the industry to do so/steal my contacts. I kid, I kid.

10. I know, I know…you KNOW. I get to meet my Brooke! And her fashion plate little ladies! And her hubby! And her sister! Trip is booked, signed, sealed, DELIVERED I’m there! Had to be pushed back a few weeks due to my tonsils/tranny-itis, but never the less…it’s done and done. So. Excited. Onemind oneheart onelifesource…and lemme just warn ya…there will be many more mentions of this little adventure. I’ve never flown across the country to meet anyone. But she’s not just anyone. Meant to be, I tell ya…(I call the blue ones lil lady. lol)

Now, I’m sure your life is complete. :)

Happy Monday luvvvers!!! I’m going to beat the Monday grumpies off with a stick. Or kick em in the balls with my heels.
XOXO,
Liz

♥ that was lovely darling! And thank you for updating about chrystina ♥ I know she will be fine!! She is an amazing, strong woman!

My sister went to the Philippines on a pilgrimage for 3 months helping out at orphanages and doing charity work. And I was held at knife point at an evil mcdonalds here in marseille (i had nothing on me though haha suckers.)

And I am also very extreme! I definitely either love it or hate it!

Ohh and you lucky girl!! when are you off to see that fabulous brooke?

Hope you have had a fabulous weekend precious! xxxx

2 Nina August 17, 2009 at 1:11 am

Wow, I didn't know you actually went here in the Philippines! Where exactly did you go? I'm such a city girl that most probably I haven't been to where you've been! That's cool you've learned some Tagalog. ;)

3 Elizabeth Marie August 17, 2009 at 1:13 am

I spent most of the time on the island of Palawan…we had to take a boat from Manila. :)

4 JennyMac August 17, 2009 at 2:11 am

Great list! And the cd of your serenade cracked me up.

5 Lisa August 17, 2009 at 2:49 am

Happy Monday Liz! I loved reading this. :)

I love James Morrison! I had no idea you spent some time in the Philippines…you are quite the jet-setter! Sounds like it was really a memorable experience for you. Your embarrassing moment is hilarious– I can just imagine it!!

Still sending positive thoughts to Chrystina!

xoxo

the charity work you did – good you! you're such a loving, compassionate person.

wow – you worked for mac, awesome!

7. I really like being alone sometimes. Maybe because I've always had a wombmate? I get really antsy/bitchy/aggravated if I don't get enough alone time. I'm either super social or a super recluse. <===== ME TOO! lol too funny lizzy!

7 Taylor August 17, 2009 at 5:03 am

You have to put down the BMW's top at least once this summer. You still have time!

8 Alianna August 17, 2009 at 5:33 am

Considering it's almost always hot enough to take your top off… I mean down in Cali, I say you still have time. Plus you could always turn on the bum warmers; you better have the bum warmers!

I'm a toddler too and also kind of extreme; the super recluse or uber-social thing for sure!

Happy Monday! Best wishes for Chrystina!!!

9 Mrs EyeCanSee August 17, 2009 at 6:10 am

Hope you next post brings nothing but good things for Chrystina!

Great list! I loooove Madonnas Immaculate Collection. And one of these days girl you are going to have to let your hair down (pun intended) and put down that convertible top! If not for you…do it for me! :)

10 Anika August 17, 2009 at 6:23 am

Ahhh, you always leave me impressed with your dedication and passion bella.
Even more reason to adore you completely!
The Phillipines thing is adorable, good luck with the PR/marketing firm too :) (I'm sure you'll have it running in no time at all!)

And lol@the loud singing…hehe I loves it.

Thanks for raising me from the dreaded monday blues. Have a fab rest of the week, gorgeous girl!

xx

11 brooke August 17, 2009 at 6:33 am

12 bananas. August 17, 2009 at 6:49 am

bahhhhHHHH! i LOVE it! oh my lil halo lover, i am connected to you in so many ways but halo will always be first. as for #7 and #8, well they kinda make me heart you even more. being extreme makes you more passionate and THAT makes life so much more interesting, dontcha think? i am so exicted for your trip to oofaland. your time spent there just might be more entertaining than the weekend i just had. i BETTER get a lot of text/pic messages from the BOTH of you! happy monday honey! xoxo.

13 Ela August 17, 2009 at 6:57 am

I'm praying it happens today.

I LOVED reading this, Lizzy. You're a sweetheart :)
Oh my goodness, you probably know more tagalog than I do! S who is not Filipino at all(think Denzel/Vin) claims to have a better accent than I do. My family always asks me to say a word or two when we get together then they laugh, and I mean laugh, hysterically as I say the words. To think I was born there too! I hate that those people robbed you at knife point, though I am so grateful they didn't do worse to you. The Lord was watching over you.
I love hearing stories too! Secret for ya – S and I have been together for almost 15 years. So it's not often that I hear something I haven't before but sometimes I still do and I love learning more about him just when I think I already know everything there is to know. I know that your 'The One' is going to be one lucky guy, Lizzy. That's the understatement of the year.
Is that CD for sale? I'd totally buy it and sing along :) I wouldn't dare laugh cause I'm sure you sound amazing.
Your firm is going to be huge!!! I just know it. Then I can say, "I knew her when…" ;)
Love ya babe! xx

14 Kristin August 17, 2009 at 6:59 am

Why am I not surprised that you did such a selfless thing? You're even more fabulous than I thought you were. Who knew that was possible? I make the hubs come talk to me when I'm in the bathtub cuz I get bored. Now I might just make him tell me a tale. Ah ha. I think it's amazing that you are going to start your own co. With your intelligence and drive I know it will be a raging success!

15 Brown Girl August 17, 2009 at 7:05 am

Many well wishes for Chrystina!

So um, since you aren't treating your BMW right I think you should pass it on down to someone that will take care of it, kthxbi. That's awesome that you went to the Philippines, learning new things about you everyday. I love our long distance relationship!

Happy Monday!

16 Amber August 17, 2009 at 7:08 am

Praying for Chrystina's surgery to go well and for her to be back to new ASAP!

This list is awesome. The more I know about you, the more I love you! You are such an amazing lady and I'm so blessed to have you in my life. Um, can I get a copy of the CD of you singing? Pretty please with a cerry on top? Have a fabulous Monday, pretty face! XOXO

17 FabBlab August 17, 2009 at 7:14 am

I loved this post. Praying for Chrystina, she'll be okay, I know it :)
I have to listen to music too when I'm on my laptop! Omg! And I lovelovelove You Make it Real!
And your story about your time in Phillipines was so fascinating and inspiring :)
It's so exciting that you're starting your own company. You know and we know you'll make it!
Fab post ;)

18 josie(bean) August 17, 2009 at 7:29 am

MAHAL KITA<333!

19 Cee August 17, 2009 at 7:33 am

I totally do #4 too. And I thought i was odd for it. BUT, you learn a lot from a person from the kind of stories they tell you.

20 ♥ H ♥ August 17, 2009 at 7:40 am

#6 & #7 ……are we related? lol

Have so much fun meeting Brooke!!!!! Better take LOTS of pictures, I want to creep, thanks!

21 J-Diggety August 17, 2009 at 7:43 am

22 Couture Carrie August 17, 2009 at 7:44 am

Soooo exciting about your PR/Marketing enterprise, darling! Wishing you lots of luck!

As for Bikram, it take some getting used to but it feels great! Just put your mat near the door the first time in case the heat is too much and you need to step out…

xoxox,
CC

23 Keith August 17, 2009 at 7:44 am

27 freeteyme August 17, 2009 at 9:10 am

OMG, I am extremes too – either I like you or I don't, very social or very recluse! The singing thing done that too! it's a good thing I wasn't chatting about the literal bitches in my life! ha ha ha Always good to know more about you!

happy Monday to you too Liz!

28 Charis August 17, 2009 at 9:19 am

Oh my gosh this is the first I've heard about Chrystina! I hope she gets the surgery and is alright! In my prayers for sure!

29 S.Elisabeth August 17, 2009 at 9:24 am

Oh my gosh, this is insane! Can I just say your like my idol? Go you, starting your own PR FIRM! Good luck and I hope you succeed so much, you're like Samantha ala SATC (only less slutty?).
And hey no worries, my friends love belting out "I Hate This Part." Except they're guys. And teenagers. And they're lifeguarding people's lives while they do it. haha
Also I know what you mean about like your alone time. I need it too!!

PS I hope Chrystina is doing well and that the surgery comes soon and she's good as new afterwards!

30 Nickie. August 17, 2009 at 9:27 am

Happy Monday!

Loved the ten facts about you. =) You are just so lovely. =)

31 The Haute-Shopper August 17, 2009 at 9:37 am

I somehow managed to miss your last post (thanks to my sucky internet, which still isn't fixed and keeps losing the connection… argh). Anyhow, I really hope Chrystina gets the surgery she needs. I know from experience how sucky that can be – I've been through the same with friends and family.

Loved reading the 10 random things. I can so relate! Well, perhaps not the singing incident ;-) Love that you spent your time in the Philippines. Reminds me of the time I took a trip to Indonesia out in the middle of nowhere (jeeps broke down, had to hike the rest of the way, slept with furry insects… good times). Have a lovely week ahead!

32 Annie August 17, 2009 at 9:39 am

loved reading this!
good luck with the pr firm, follow your dreams girly! you are amazing!
you and brooke are way too cute!
and i want to hear this cd! ha!

p.s. praying for chrystina.

33 Tiffany August 17, 2009 at 9:44 am

sending good thoughts to Chrystina today… hope everything goes well!

you are so cute, LOL to the voicemail message/CD! tooo funny!!

amazing about the work you did in the philippines but dude, scary that you got robbed at knife point!

and go you for going out there and starting your own business, I know you will do amazing!

34 Rachel August 17, 2009 at 9:44 am

Oh my goodness I was wondering where Chrystina has been! I am sending prayers and happy thoughts and I hope she will be better asap!

Wow that is awesome about the Fashion PR firm! I have a fashion marketing degree and that is my perfect job! If I ever come to Cali i'm comin to work with you:0)

35 Sara August 17, 2009 at 9:50 am

Lovely post! I hope Chrystina feels a lot better soon. I really do.

I enjoyed reading the random things about you A LOT!

36 Pinky August 17, 2009 at 10:11 am

YOU spent weeks showering from a BUCKET??? I truly admire you! I am pretty outdoor-sy but I've always camped near some sort of lake/stream just so I can be clean for all the mosquitoes. lol. You're just even more awesome in my book!

P.S. If you need an attorney for your new PR firm you better let me know…Mama needs new shoes! =)

37 Alicia August 17, 2009 at 10:11 am

18 and in the philippines! what a neat experience!! except the robbing part. and how can i get a hold of this said CD that likes to make the party rounds?? that's hysterical!! and when you start the PR firm can i be the sex-cretary??? PLEASE?!

38 OceanDreams August 17, 2009 at 10:26 am

I always love learning more about you, you have many many layers to you dear Liz, which makes you even more beautiful!

I love the part how you described yourself to be either an extreme introvert or extrovert, that is how I am too. Which is a pain because sometimes when I want to be an extrovert I end up being introverted, lol!

That is fantastic that you are starting your own company, go you! I love MAC and how fun that you worked for them!

Okay, you definitely need to use the convertible before it gets chilly, especially now that you pointed it out and turn that music up loud girl!!

I am going to read your post on Chrystina, hope she gets better soon! XO!

39 Dream Sequins August 17, 2009 at 10:52 am

Hey darlin- I could TOTALLY see you starting your Fash PR/marketing firm! You would be so amazing… Go you!

Also, I can definitely relate to being super social one moment and a recluse the next. Most of the time, I need my alone time– and this is why living in a tiny studio with the Mr. will never do. We each have our own bathrooms and our own spaces in the apartment. :)

Hope you're having a wonderful Monday!!

40 Kristen August 17, 2009 at 11:28 am

you are so freaking cute. i love reading more and more about you! pretty much all of those i didn't know about you. everyone needs alone time! and mac counter? never knew!!

41 Lily G. August 17, 2009 at 11:41 am

What a great post, and I'm loving the pics liz!!

42 Mrs. Bismarck August 17, 2009 at 11:43 am

#6: so awesome

#8: nothing wrong with that, i have no gray either.

#9: keep working on it, i want to know someone famous someday

i have been missing you, my offspring and family have been taking up too much of my time, which i guess is ok, but i am ready to get back to normal life (if that is what i was doing before)

happy monday

The "tell me a story" thing. I do that to Ben all.the.time.

Hi, we are the same person.

44 Shopn'Chomp August 17, 2009 at 12:15 pm

Liz, good luck on starting your Fashion PR/Marketing firm! I know you will definitely succeed! =) And thanks for the update on your friend.

45 Sam August 17, 2009 at 12:22 pm

Wowsers!! So cool to get to peak inside the inner Liz!! Number 6 is tops by the way!!

46 yiqin; August 17, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I either love it or hate it too! It is very hard to get me to like something once I hate it.

47 Kellie August 17, 2009 at 12:33 pm

Tell Chrystina I'm praying for her safe and fast recovery! I'm looking for an update from you soon! :)

Also, yes on #7. It quite possibly could be the whole wombmate thing too! There are times when I just NEED to be alone right that second or I will go bat shit! :)

48 Piper Jacquelyn August 17, 2009 at 1:14 pm

First off, I must say thanks for coming by my blog & I LOVE Gabby as well! Second – I always ask my boyfriend to, "tell me a story" as well. It's my fave thing before we go to bed! I'm looking forward to reading more of your blog {your answers were fab}.

49 La Couturier August 17, 2009 at 1:53 pm

Loooved your ten!

And I totally relate with number 4. Boys. (;

50 Yamila August 17, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Hi Doll!!! Ohhh i'm Praying for Chrystina!!
James Morrison: Yummy!! hahahaa.

Dear, i'm voluntary worker too. We help poor children, they live in a part to my city. Is so nice to see the love in every little hug, a blessing :)

Well, my better desires for you friend.!

51 Patty Ann August 17, 2009 at 4:35 pm

whoa..camping is pretty hard core dude. my passport holder thingy reads "i love not camping" – but awesome for doing what you did!

52 LENORENEVERMORE August 17, 2009 at 4:38 pm

So very good to know a little more about you darling…just like you I can be super social or a super recluse…as i grow up (finally!) I've become more of the later somehow. Anyhoo, you have a fabulous week sunshine! xo*

53 E August 17, 2009 at 5:28 pm

I hope your friend is doing ok! And that's so cool you lived in a tent in the Philippines! You are braver than I, my dear! Snakes scare the crap out of me!

54 Sher August 17, 2009 at 6:12 pm

Hope you had a better Monday. I'll say little prayers for your friend. You keep us all up to date.

And you have more gumption than me to live in a tent :)

55 Allison August 17, 2009 at 6:14 pm

I never knew about the phillipines! aren't you a sweetie?? ok, so i totally looked at the thing about you loving and hating stuff and it made me think! i'm totally apathetic about everything! i don't love or hate anything….kind of sucks..no passion!!! that's why i wrote my post today about parenting. i think kids will be the ONLY thing i really LOVE.

56 Allison August 17, 2009 at 6:53 pm

I love, love, love that you went to the Philippines and roughed it out there. What a beautiful thing you did, doll! The lives of those children will be permanently affected by your stepping out of your comfort zone!
Ugh, convertibles. My dad just got a new Porsche (hello midlife crisis much)and the day he got it, I had just gotten a fabulous blow out at the salon, and like a moron I went out in it, top down. Let's just say…never again. I felt like such a baby complaining, but, ew.
And, I laughed out loud about you dialing your friend's hubs and belting out Pussycat Dolls. Like, I really laughed out loud.
Chrystina is still in my thoughts and prayers. I wish her the best! Love you girl!

57 thefatandskinnyonfashion August 17, 2009 at 8:12 pm

Good luck with #9. I hope you do well. Also I hope your friend gets better real soon.

58 Underfunded Heiress August 17, 2009 at 8:21 pm

I always wanted to drive up the coaast in a convertable too!

Awesome about your own company. Being your own boss must be the best feeling!

Love the pics.

Great info. Thanks for sharing!

59 The Socialite August 17, 2009 at 9:24 pm

haha I have Tegan and Sara on replay right now!!! :) )) I play over songs so much it annoys my guy.

Love your list and hey if you're hiring for PR people – I'm available! ;)

60 Midtown Girl August 17, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Aww.. When are you gonna come see moi (sad face).

I KNOW you will have an amazingly awesome time with Oofs – she seems to be one fantastic chickie!

Luv & Kissies, MG!

61 Brunch at Saks August 17, 2009 at 10:15 pm

Love this post! You are such a beautiful person both inside and out! Please tell Chrystina that so much love, prayers, and positive thoughts are being sent her way. Love to you both XOXO

62 K @ Blog Goggles August 18, 2009 at 1:14 am

Haha, what an awesome list. I actually read all of it (which is super rare for these "about me" things). I am also a toddler – I tell my boyfriend "play with me!" and don't mean anything dirty by it.

63 Hanako66 August 18, 2009 at 7:28 am

you are going to meet brooke??!! sooooooo awesome, I am seriously so excited for you!

I love you to pieces and love this list…..we should get the top down….summer isn't REALLY over in CA until at least the first of October:) …maybe on the way to f21 on steroids lol

64 Erienne August 18, 2009 at 4:35 pm

oh my lord yet another reason we are meant to be bitches….james morrison is my lovvvveerrrr right now. I could listen to his voice all day long : )

hope Crystina is doing better and have a save drive to see her!

ps: if you need a fantastic bitch to add to the roster of your marketing/pr firm – you know who to call : )

miss ya love!
xoxo

65 Keeley August 19, 2009 at 9:01 am

I miss you monkey! I am praying for Chrystina. And this post put a smile on my face. "Kick the Monday grumpies in the balls with your heels!!!!" Oooh you are BADASS for shiz!

66 Sarah Lynn August 19, 2009 at 6:07 pm

You are so brave! Held at knife point and SNAKES slithering by your tents? I give you props. I would be out like trout….as much as I would want to help children (and I bet that was such an amazing, life changing experience!), you aren't getting me in no snake infested jungle…no way jose. I HATE SNAKES. Just like Indiana Jones :) I have a funny snake story I need to share sometime. I bet the children made it worth it. I would LOVE to do some kind of mission trip. It's one of my life goals. I just have to get over my snake phobia if I'm going in the jungle…yikes…. (scared face).

I love to listen to music while I blog, too! Actually, I can't write unless I'm listening to music, hence the playlist. Too funny.

I need some alone time, too. I'm too independent. That's why I have my own place, although my rent would be better if I got roomies, but I'd miss the freedom!

Glad you get to see your friend soon and hope your friend Chrystina is doing ok! I'll keep praying! Have a fab rest of your week! It was funning learning more about you. :)

67 Style Porn August 19, 2009 at 8:03 pm

Haha. Pocket dialing is the worst. But for serious, can I have a copy of that burned CD? I think it would make me sublimely happy.

68 Cari (Is Not Fashion) August 20, 2009 at 9:00 pm

congrats on starting your own pr firm! that's fantastic! i can't believe the pussycat cd thing though- that is crazy!

69 Vanessa September 10, 2009 at 4:32 pm

I just have to comment to say that I love your blog and you are hilarious! I love your style and the way you write! I also hope and pray that your friend, Chrystina, gets better and fast, having family go through such pain is never easy, I can totally relate to how you feel.
