Hello kiddies, it’s Kristin from BonBon Rose here. Liz was sweet enough to ask me to guest post on her oh so fabulous blog and I couldn’t be more thrilled. For those of you that aren’t familiar with our blog, my fashion posts typically focus on affordable yet, hopefully, chic style. As I am a stay at home Mom in Tampa, Liz and I lead slightly different lives. I like to live vicariously through her fast paced L.A. existence, ah ha. I might not have many occasions anymore to rock the pieces I’ve chosen to feature, but were I still single in the city you can bet your sweet booties one or two of these little numbers would be mine. Of course, if we can get a sitter and the hubs scores some tickets to a show, they just might be mine after all.
So enough of my wistful rambling. What is our topic today you ask? Why it’s none other than zipper detailing. It’s amazing how such an industrial looking material can be contorted into beauty. Do you all remember that killer dress that Jeffrey put down the runway in the season 3 finale of Project Runway? Although it was met with mixed reviews, I dug it! It had the most incredible zipper trim. The silhouette of the dress was decidedly feminine, yet he used contrasting zippers to funk it up creating the perfect marriage of feminine and funk, femfunk if you will. Feel free to gank my wordage.
To keep in the spirit of affordable fashion, I’ve pulled together a sampling of zipper laden pieces from two of my go to bargain shops, Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. To balance out all this black, how about pairing any one of these rocktastic pieces with a pair of pretty in pink Paris Hilton Destiny heels? You can grab a pair for yourself at Zappos. Black and pink is one of my favorite color combos and I’m loving the edginess of the zippers paired with the saccharine of the bow trimmed peep toes. How about you?

Well, that’s all my lovely Unbeweavables. I’m off like a dirty shirt, Ducky style. You know I couldn’t type the words pretty in pink without throwing in the obligatory pop culture reference.

Loving the Bow Heels!!!
I love zipper detailing! I tried on an Alvin Valley skirt a few weeks ago that had amazing zippers all over the place. The ironic part…when I went to zip up the back – the zipper got stuck. You've got to be kidding me!!! I hated to leave it but I couldn't bring myself to buy it.
I freaking love the Destiny heels! But, as I am in Canada, it's nearly impossible for me to get my hands on some in a colour that I like. *sigh*
I'm not really a zipper fan but I love the first dress too!
Looove the pink peep toes!
i need that black zipper dress in the third photo…oohh lovey!

If done nicely the zipper look is super cool. Although, I'd have to worry about wearing the first dress in case anyone felt it would be hilarious to unzip me on a night out!!!
I used to have a zipper skirt! Unfortunately it doesn't fit anymore so I will have to get a new one!
2 and 5 are now mine.

I'm liking the Femfunk, Kristen. Yes, I agree about not having anywhere to wear the stuff. I'm single, but in Mississippi. I hardly ever get to get all dressed up!

Zippers are everywhere! Refinery29 did a feature on zippered accessories today and I just about died and then I saw this and now I'm hooked.
