Hair Do’s!

in Hair, extensions, how to's, my obsessions, thanks

Dolls…you never cease to amaze me. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your sweet comments and emails regarding my last post. It was floating around in my head all weekend, and it felt so good to get it out. Besos x a million to all of you.

Real quick-three of my favorite girls are doing KILLER giveaways! Hanako66 at Through The Looking Glass ,Iva at Iva Messy and Rachel at Rachel’s Pink Thoughts. Check them out, they are all FABULOUS!
So the name of my blog stems from my completely vain and unapologetic obsession with my hair. BFF Istvan saw me one day and proclaimed me Unbeweavable…and a blog name was born. I am really high maintenance when it comes to my hair, for awhile I was the girl getting blowouts a few times a week, but yeah…that gets really expensive. And I like shoes too…
I have been asked if I have extensions. To quote Big from SATC “absofuckinglutely!” I love them. No shame in my game! If you have any questions about extensions, different methods, etc…let me know!
These are a few of my favorite ways to wear my hair lately-
Messy loose curls, also known as “after a roll in the hay hair”(wink wink)-this is how I usually do my hair on a daily basis. My tips are below!
Adding a little braid is always fun. I think we’ve all seen this lately on the Hills, right? I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing, but for me it’s just a little something fun to do when I put my hair in a ponytail. Makes me feel less lazy :)
The messy, messy ponytail is my favorite! This is fabulous for days when your hair is too crazy to wear down but you don’t have time to start from scratch. Ponytails like this work much, much better on un-washed hair, anyway. Adding a little headband at the roots gives lift AND, if you’re growing out bangs or have long, side bangs like I do, this will keep them out of your face!
Updo’s don’t always have to be tight and severe…I love the height of this style, and I love how it looks a bit messy but still formal. The make-up is fierce too…Make-Up post coming soon. :)
Pulling a ponytail just halfway through its fastener gives it new shape. Create a deep side part, then sweep the sides back and clip them in place behind your ears with a thin barrette or bobby pin. Next, make a low ponytail, but pull the tail only halfway through the elastic on the final loop. Use your fingers to loosen the hair gently above the band, and spray like a mutha!

Pining a bit of hair off the face reminds me of Catherine Deneuve…so 1960’s chic. My tips for this are to make sure that you pull a wide section of hair back, temple to temple is what I like to go by and secure it behind the crown. You can also tease the front section before pinning it back to get height. This is another great one for you if you have bangs that are buggin!

Ok so this is me…as you know…I’m just using this picture because it’s my fav of my hair.Between being a make-up artist for many years, and being both in front and behind the camera, I’ve learned a few things about hair that I thought I’d share with you!

My Unbeweavable tips (extensions or not)…
-Find a really good shampoo and conditioner that caters to your hair type. I only use Pureology or Kerastase. I have found that spending a bit of extra money on shampoo and conditioners is actually worth it, for me at least.
-Unless you absolutely must, DO NOT shampoo your hair everyday. I usually go 3 days. “Dirty” hair is better for updo’s and shampooing everyday can really dry out your hair. Just condition the ends in the shower! TRUST ME! :)
-On this note, dry shampoos have come along way. Some days my ends are perfection but my roots look a little too dirty…I am obsessed with Rene Furterer Natura Dry Shampoo. The link above takes you to Sephora.com, where I’d suggest buying it because anytime I go into a store to get it, it’s sold out and that’s really irritating…
-I use a flat iron to curl my hair. It’s actually easier for me to do than using a curling iron. I am curling iron challenged, but this works even better, I think! This is the flat iron I use-if you are going to be flat ironing/curling every day, I really suggest investing in a high quality tool to prevent damage. It’s all in the flick of the wrist! :) -A few other favorite products
Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream
Gabby and I have been using this for years, and it’s always on the top 10 lists, etc. It’s perfect for smoothing out any frizz and smells so yummy. My only tip with this one-use sparingly!! And don’t let it near your roots, ends only!

See, not everything is expensive! This is like 5 bucks and it’s AMAZING, and I’m a hair spray whore! The best thing about it is that it doesn’t get all crunchy and nasty no matter how many times you use it during the day and into the night! I’ve tried really expensive ones, but this is my staple! And you can get it at TARGET! Yay!

I hope you all had a fabulous day! XOXO, Liz

I had a fabulous unbeweavable day, despite it was very rainy. Tell me, you´re a make-up artist, but do you also do hair? I need to cut my hair very soon. :P

2 Tiffany May 26, 2009 at 6:12 pm

this is just what I needed! have been looking for new hairstyles for myself. You’re hair is gorgeous, did not know you had extensions. Have thought about getting them myself.

And also have been wanting to try the Rene Furtere dry shampoo, will have to get it now since you recommend it!

3 Lady Jane May 26, 2009 at 6:15 pm

I love the tips!!! It’s good to hear it from a “real” person..then in a magazine article!

4 Iva May 26, 2009 at 6:17 pm

omg! thank you sooo much for the shout out! you are seriously AWESOME! WOW! thank you for all these AMAZING tips! I totally agree with you about not washing hair everyday! I think it dries hair a lot as well, but I know some people have to wash it daily. Great product advise! LOVE them all! I’m totally curling iron challenged as well, NO WORRIES! lol GO TEAM FLAT IRON! :) You have such a great blog name! So fitting, and creative, and plain fantastic! I totally read and re-read your blog daily!!

Hair…I love it! I love reading about hair styles but I never do any of them. I have been blessed with hair that looks super without even having to fuss of it. But that braid do it a must, I need to try it–soon!

Hope you are having a wonderful day!

6 Mademoiselle Frou-Frou May 26, 2009 at 6:49 pm

Love the hair advice. Now you need to do a demonstration on youtube. (ok kidding)Seriously, I’m sooo bad with my hair and totally jealous of people who know the tricks.

looking forward to the makeup blog!

14 Confession May 26, 2009 at 7:28 pm

I love the pictures. I’m a big fan of sexy tousled waves, especially for the summer.

15 Black Patent Stilettos May 26, 2009 at 7:59 pm

great post! i love the wavy tousled hair look but have the hardest time doing it with my long, heavy asian hair.

16 Savvy Mode SG May 26, 2009 at 8:05 pm

i so need a new flat iron. : )

17 freeteyme May 26, 2009 at 8:06 pm

perfect timing girl and from someone whose hair is sooooo unbeweavable! I am so tired of my hairstyle – to wear it in a pony tail or not. I am using the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo and am not happy with the way it smells – like an old person’s hair product! lol… I will have to try furterer then.

18 drollgirl May 26, 2009 at 8:47 pm

you have given me a million cool hair tips! i have about three ways to do my hair (B-O-R-I-N-G!), but now i have many more thanks to YOU!

There’s no shame in extensions,if I had the money I would definitely have some too.Besides, your hair looks gorgeous, and I would’ve never thought that it wasn’t all your own.

I agree on the fact that you shouldn’t was your hair every day, even though it can be a little difficult sometimes.

25 Belle May 27, 2009 at 3:08 am

John Frieda is a god! I am addicted to the sheer blonde shampoo and conditioner!

If I had the money i would for sure have extensions! (I actually have wanted them for so long!)

Loveee this post darling!! (And how stunning is the first model!! gorge!!)

Lots of love my darling xxxx

26 brooke May 27, 2009 at 4:33 am

yes i love love love your hair! and i too am hair obsessed…i simply cannot go out of the house with it just hanging there…it just doesn’t look right on me…however at the moment i am in that awkward inbetween stage so if i don’t curl it daily i have to put it up…because i am stinkin obsessed with ginormous hair and if it is flat i will have a minor flipout…

on the note of washing…this gal has to everyday…i wake up every morning and it looks like i slept with my scalp emerged in canola oil…not pretty…i may have to look into that dry shampoo though…

well thank you for the tips and i hope you are having a fabulous wednesday my dear…

side note: please stay in front of the camera…you are way to beautiful to be behind it…

Love the do’s. I’m required to have mine back everyday and usually go for either the messy pony-tail or a messy bun. I will definitely have to try some of that dry shampoo- this is the second time its been recommended to me this week.

Hey Darling! I am so glad you are feeling better. I have no idea what to do with my hair. Seriously, I just bought my first blow dryer last month for my bangs. My hair gets really dry but I use a rose oil for it. I have always wanted extensions so I can have hair down to my but. Thanks for the hair tips:)

Awesome post! I think I’ll try out that Fekkai Glossing thing (I have a gift to remember names oh so well!). My hair is way too long now and it always gets frizzy, it’s annoying, so we’ll see if that helps!

50 Meg and Komie June 3, 2009 at 9:17 pm

LOVELOVELOVE Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream…It's the best thing out there it's def our miracle, run not walk to product! Have you ever tried Oscar Blandi's pronto Dry Shampoo? It's awesome! Not the spray bottle one but the powder one that you can streak into hair. That stuff is a lifesaver!

51 kathleen June 3, 2009 at 10:33 pm

Love this post, lovebug! My hair is my thing, but – I swear – I really have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just lucky if it turns out well! Thanks for the tips!
