Ok, I’m torn on this one, and I was wondering what your thoughts are… Help!
Halston’s Fall ’09 presentation will go off the runway, and onto the streets of NYC. Digitally. Edited. PERFECT. Too perfect?
The film will be sent to editors, fashionistas, buyers, etc on Feb 13th with LookBooks following. Is it just me or does this seem like a digital lookbook anyway, which most houses already do?? It almost has the feel of the Chanel commercial with Nicole Kidman.
It’s incredibly shot but it worries me a bit…there is nothing like a real, live fashion show! Where things can go wrong, models can eat it, all the lights are flashing…and there’s NOTHING like that moment when a truly breathtaking creation floats by…and you can FEEL the energy in the room- you know that everyone is just as in awe as you are. You know that all who are gathered in the space are hanging on to every look…there’s something about being in the room as decisions are being made. I love live shows also because you can see the details up close…and then later on you get the lookbook for business reasons.
Dree Hemingway(the gorgeous model in the video and an excellent choice in my opinion) might have eaten it a hundred times during the filming of this presentation, but we’ll never know thanks to the editing (not that I love live shows because the models might fall, not what I mean at all)…there is just an organic, REAL dangerous/hectic element that is missing, at least for me.
Of course, the clothes are amazing, and there is really nothing like using NYC in the raw as your backdrop. So I’m on the fence, and I haven’t seen the whole thing, so come tomorrow maybe I’ll be eating my words!

I hope all design houses don’t necessarily follow suit right away though!
But Halston…le sigh…the collection really is gorgeous. In the end…is that all that matters?

I say look at it like digital photos vs. film. I hated digital photography at first, but then realized that it’s a totally different art form. View this show as just that. It’s a new art, you never know! Actually fashion could use some knew ideas right now!
Good point. It does feel really fresh…and progression is always a good thing in my opinion!
Halston video is amazing, for that I ask, is really this cheaper than a show?

Wow, cool video!! Sorry about not coming around lately, I just had to catch up on everything else. I have fixed that problem and added you to my blogroll on my page since those are the VIPs and I check them first. You are the best #70 a girl can ever have!!
question darling, did you go to school for mu? if so where? i do hair a little makeup at my salon, but id like to learn more and possibly work part time for mac.

i love those your cute pictures, halston videoes is wonderful.I was the one of the follower to your blog. can i get u as a follower after reading my blog
lol, the ad was great, but I was mildly amused that the shoes she tossed up in the air didn’t fall back down and bonk her on the head.
oh youre such a sweetheart! well i just finshed with mine 6!!
Hi
My opinion is…
One day runway shows, magazines, etc everything will be digital, on videos or online! I can’t decide if that’s good or bad.
Regarding fashion shows I still love the real thing, although magazines being online can save a lot of trees
Love

oh my. You know me, darling, I always love me some halston…but noooo this can’t replace runway shows! I completely agree with you; you have to be there to see how the pieces move in person, to feel the energy and see the clothes with your own eyes. While this video is just gorgeous (and I could keep on repeat), I hope it doesn’t replace the real thing!!
Hmmm, this is a very interesting point. I love digital, but I’ve always adored the true beauty of natural art. For example: I much rather see movies that are not CG’d… Does it make sense?
It’s a great concept and fun to see digital being used the way it did in the video, but for a real show, I think I like live better.. Or am I being too old?
Have a wonderful weekend and a Valentine’s Day!
I love Halston. I am glad that they are kind of on the forfront of combining technology and fashion.
i love halson, and i think that they are very intelligent as to shock to the people in live.
the video is a good idea, but no more that a good runway!!!
please, that the tecnology not will use the place of the magic.
kisses.
thanks for your comment!

I think I’ve got a bigger issue – someone explain the March Cosmo, page 81! Incorporate work-out wear – bike shorts are in this season! Pair your gym staples with heels and a cardigan.
Dear lord – I cannot partake in this fashion world if this is what’s expected! Ridiculous!
there is something for you on my blog.
Gloria-So funny! I thought the same thing. I also thought “wow, she’s not getting tired from all that running?” haha and then I remembered…EDITED
You’re so cute.
Rajesh-Thank you for following! I will definitely stop by xo
The Stiletto Effect-I totally agree with you! Magazines are on their way out, which is good and bad. I’m all for anything green these days though.
Terence-Hi! Can’t wait to check out your blog! Be there sooooon!
Ms. Lisa, my soulmate-wtf? I’m going to have to check this out. I guess it’s good for us who work at home?! haha
I agree with you. Nothing trumphs a live show. The best part is the anticipation of a model falling ;p
Cool video though.
It might be good and interesting for some time, but on generally I am a traditionalist;D
I adore Halston!! One of my favorite designers of all time, but I haven't been too crazy about the revival stuff. I do like the concept of this, though. It's something new and fresh. I can't ever see it replacing traditional fashion shows but it's an interesting alternative every once in a while.
Thanks again for stopping by my blog, you're too sweet!! <33 I love your polyvore set too…have fun!
I know what you mean – this is absolutely stunning, but I do love live shows (especially because my aunt often scores me tickets to fashion week!)… I hope that once the economy picks up all the fashion houses will get back to normal
I love, love, love your blog and LOVED reading your about me! I think it’s way awesome that you’re a MAC make-up artist too, girl!
xo
wes anderson eat your heart out!
